Today, young adults and older empty nesters are rediscovering cities and returning to downtowns. An urban setting with a mix of uses that allows one to live, work and play in a compact, pedestrian-friendly environment provides opportunities for social interaction and cultural experiences. Housing prices in the Bridgeport region have risen sharply in recent years, outpacing incomes. For people of modest means and those just starting out, there are virtually no affordable housing options available in Fairfield County. That is until now in Downtown West. New housing in Downtown West provides a relatively affordable housing alternative and urban amenities in close proximity to public transportation. Armed with this knowledge BNT began planning its neighborhood revitalization strategy for the Downtown West Neighborhood.
