Paints used to complete the resin statue were a mix of Vallejo acrylic paints, Monument Hobbies Pro Acryl, Army Painter Speed paints, Vallejo Xpress colors and Citadel Contrast Paints.
The Iwata eclipse airbrush was also used to create smooth blends and glazes for this concept art.

Amazing work! Absolutely awesome paint job! Just a note on safety, be careful. Engraving resin releases some horrid and poisonous stuff that typical air filters won't absorb, especially in the entry level laser filter setups. The fumes produced are essentially the same as if you burned the resin. That being any resin (even non-toxic) across the few dozen brands I've checked all seem to release the same stuff. If you want to make sure you're not poisoning yourself, setup an exceptional ventilation setup. The byproducts are usually listed on the MSDS sheet for the product to confirm if its going to gas off anything worse than carbon dioxide/monoxide. Most colleges that have engravers in their labs also have a no-go material list up on their site too, as a good reference if you are just getting started with lasers, not a bad starting point for safety. Keep up the awesome work!

@@SeonasStudio absolutely! For sure that sweet spot of not blowing through the paint layers. The problem is that the ability to blow through layers of paint with a laser are based on a lot of variables, from the paint makeup itself between brands, additives, and even down to the color and pigments in the paint changing the energy absorption rate of the laser beam. It’s a tough balance when you want to tickle off some and not all, sometimes. The resin underneath the more easily removed color (black often being the most ablative/absorbent for most lasers), is where my concern was kind of at. I just wouldn’t recommend doing a lot of this without a filter/exhaust upgrade due to the material and what the included filters/filter setup are actually capable of absorbing. The cost of the swap is nothing vs a fatality or price of lungs. I should have also noted, the inconsistent mark across the surface is from areas of the mark being out of focus. The wavelength and lens make for a very short range of ideal focus where the mark will be uniform and the distance change across the piece to the lens is the cause. It’s a hard balance to try and get something with so much height variance to mark evenly. I can’t remember if it was mentioned, but if you’re marking with a lot of varying height across the mark, getting the focal point on average in the middle of the range of heights will help. The laser focal range is kind of like an hourglass shape. Going too high or low from the lens means the dot size at the surface will be spreading the power concentration too far to ablate beyond a certain point. Same concept if you’ve ever used a magnifying glass to light a piece of paper on fire. I work with and help people with this kind of laser stuff all day every day and it’s a challenging balance to reach and it was a solidly beautiful result. Happy printing and laser play everyone! :)

The level of quality this guy has in his work is incredible, it's really sad that his recognition is so little, not that 44 thousand people is absurdly small, but in large scale and the level of detail in his work, he really should have more recognition. I'm Brazilian so I can only admire it from afar, having something like this, however desirable it may be, is a very distant reality unfortunately haha 😅 ~ Excellent work bro ~

This is awesome! The ideas for the Lazer can be unbelievably awesome! Not only tattoos but think of stuff like mecha or anything mechanical! U can do even cool stuff with androids like showing off wires or battle like damage or more! U can might even use it to engrave ur own unique signature! U could also engrave swords now cause of how small the surface is u can now fit stuff that was harder back then lol! I'm just blowing smoke now! Haha! This is a beautiful Velma and I love ur style! Laser could be great for details like freckles on skin, or details like panel lines and rivets a mech or vehicle. But using it for tattoos is a great idea.

A suggestion would be to mask with tape the areas of the tattoos and then let the laser burn through the masking tape. It should burn through. Then airbrush the tattoos a greenish color while the masking tape is still applied. Then remove the masking tape once the color dries. I don't know if it will work on the resin, but I've used lasers to etch leather through the tape and that has worked well for me.

Really nice model and paintjob. Only downside would be there are still some gaps between parts, I've seen guys like sukima fill those in with either epoxi putty and sanding it all into shape, using vaseline to keep parts seperable or some other filler. I really have to give my printer another shot with some better resin... The eyes look pretty great.

The laser inconsistency is likely due to the difference in focal link. Since the whole idea of laser engraving is based on focusing on specific spots to burn in, while leaving the rest untouched, the different distance from point to point makes enough of a difference that is noticeable. Maybe if you set up the initial reference depth, you might have better results. Great example of a test work, though.

The level detail that can be printed at the consumer level is getting serious. While you did need to paint and maybe smooth some areas, that printing will cut MAJOR time of sculpting projects. Pretty amazing how far we've come.

4:16 I know why, you didn’t distort the image to fit the surface, one idea for working it out is to take a picture and darken the image as it gets further from the lasers set surface, then set the focal point of the lasers slightly lower than the surface start, and I mean slight, as if you were aiming half a millimeter under the surface. Then align and etch your modified image.

I'd like to see the laser used to apply and replace water decals from Gundam Models. I personally have no patience for applying the extra decals, so it be cool to see the laser used to put those markings on something like a MG Zaky or something.
