Pull a page out of ww2. Geoffrey de havillian. Built a plane out of wood because it was cheaper and it basically invisible to radar. It used two Merlin “not brown” v12s. Built a car like that.

Weird that Automation doesn't let you use turbochargers and superchargers. They absolutely existed in 1946. They were just about as common in the modding scene as well

The main thing holding back 1940s car tech is chemistry. Crappy tire compound, and low fuel octane rating prevent any kind of power being made or even getting to the road. They had turbos back then but they were mostly on war plane engines.

Turbo already existed in 1946, but it is used in aircraft engine. The first turbocharged car was made in 1962 with Oldsmobile Jetfire, a sporty version of Cutlass.
