Oh, I'm sorry haha. My analytics were saying my audience is 100% men for the past few months so I did it automatically I guess. Welcome on the Wave Mrs Calico! 👊 🌊
I’ve been using Reaper for 12 years, and it’s been great seeing how it’s been getting more and more love. I only use it to record MIDI, almost exclusively. Works great! I love their business model. No need to pirate their software.
I also use Reaper for everything. I started using it mostly for metal and rock because it was pretty easy to record my guitars and that stuff. Now I use it to make all my music, even lofi beats so for me it's my go-to DAW, it's incredibly flexible
Same story here! I was migrating from Cubase because I didn't want to pay for every new release and I saw Reaper as a cheaper alternative which turned out to be much more powerful tool than I expected. The thing with reaper tho is that people usually get scared by the default GUI and huge menus with all these options.
Thank you so much for taking your time to explain how to use Reaper to make beats! These type os videos were missing for this excellent DAW! Keep up with the good work :D
You got yourself a new subscriber! I have to use Reaper for school and you've shown me the way hahaha. I'm about to binge your playlist and check out your other stuff! Keep making good content my guy!
NEW VIDEO: Ultimate guide to REAPER BEAT MAKING: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cdUFQX_Kf9s.html Hop on a video call with me! 🎵 1 on 1 classes: wodzubeats.com/online-lessons Lots of new videos already out on the channel! Thank you for 20k under that one.
holy shit man! great content! please guide us in making beats in reaper! you are definitely right about some people not using reaper for making beats. i've been quite frustrated because all i see were fl studio tutorials on beat making and not much on reaper. thanks a lot! subscribed!
A very important comment for me, thanks! Definitely agreed, make sure you checked out all the newer episodes since there are some already released out 😉
Thank you for this video. Reaper is a great software that doesn't get a lot of buzz or credit. Yet it is a tank that runs so smoothly. Love your approach and method. Thx
I tried and seen many different themes for Reaper, but I've always stuck to the default one in the end. I've always found it to be the most clean of them all.
So glad I found this channel! Been using Reaper to make beats for a year now, and I love it, but it's been a long learning process because I couldn't find tutorials like this one (I would have to watch FL or Ableton tutorials and think, 'how would reaper do this?'). I'm going to binge watch all your videos now hahaha. If you see this Wodzu, I really need a quick way to do full track outs for my beats? I cant work it out myself, other than individually rendering each track to a stem and into a folder one by one...
Make sure you've checked out the ultimate guide, I've summed up all the basics in one video 😉 To make trackouts just simply go to Render window, select "selected tracks via master" in the first list, select the tracks you want to render out while holding ctrl, type "$track" as the filename (files will be named same as your tracks) and then "Render X files" at the bottom of the window
@@WodzuBeats thank you! I didn't know the $track wildcard, it was just numbering them 001, 002 etc and frustrating me. Fan for life over here, thanks again
You were the spark, man. 20 minutes of talking with a stranger who actually believes in what you're doing sometimes has much more impact than a talk with a professional motivator. Peace man! ✌️
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am trying to learn how to use reaper to produce different types of music, and this video was a good intro for me to see how useful reaper is. I'm still trying to figure out how to use my keyboard as a MIDI and such. Thank you again!
Thanks for your comment man! You're in a good place 😀 If you have any technical difficulties just hit me up on Instagram, the link is in the description.
I use a free plugin called Shortcircuit as my main sampler in Reaper (mostly for drums, but also for other things). It made my workflow faster. You can even drag and drop samples from Reaper timeline (hold CTRL + ALT and drag). It has many effects and modulation/routing capabilities, but those are optional. You can just load the samples and start making beats.
Hey man! Thanks for the comment 🌊 I've been using shortcircuit for years, but ReaSamplomatic is much more transparent and has faster workflow in terms of 808 samples. Shortcircuit is a great way to go tho, I've learnt about the plugin from DJ Pain One.
I've been trying out other DAW's cause I feel like its time to move on from Fl-Studio, I've been using FL for a while but there are some issues that make it really annoying to record with MIDI and live audio via microphone or external audio sources like hardware synths, not to mention how much clutter is involved in Fl-Studio, I feel like so far, at least for chopping samples Reaper is pretty good in that drag and drop, chop and screwed style really easy. The only thing I don't like about Reaper is I feel like the stock effects and VST's are just well, very plain and minimalistic (in looks) for some people that might be prefect but for me I like all the eye candy, I know that might be very petty and stupid but that honestly just me FL-Studio has some of the most good looking effects ever I've never felt the need to replace any of them.
Yeah, they look as they look, but trust me, they're powerful and pretty advanced. There are some plugins in the arsenal that you won't find in FL. They just look "default". If you ever have any questions just hit me up on Instagram or Facebook 😉
I'm glad for that accident, man! I love it too, definitely helped my workflow and I just like the simplicity. There are a bunch of newer episodes on the channel, I've just started 4 episode series about 808s
Sorry, I am a total beginner and have a noob question. when i open the media explorer, it opens up on the bottom half of the screen. how do i get it to the left side like you ?
I don't mean it's ugly and you shouldn't use it - I've been using it for almost a year at the beginning. That's just a matter of personal choice :D Wish I could have a 4k display tho haha
@@WodzuBeats reaper has alot of options but its alot of things thats important to me why i dont use it as my main daw i still tap into it to see if they add or made specific things better
Hey! Glad you liked the video ;) There are already lots of new tutorials out on the channel - make sure you checked the Beatgrinding in Reaper playlist. Here's the video where I discuss the plugins I'm uisng: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-02_BoEE9LdU.html
Hey. when I put ad sample it plays only in one speaker and very weak in the other if at all... ive check things but cant find out how to make it play in both
Really? People think this of Reaper? I heard about Reaper from a friend who would use Reaper 3 and use it to make electronic music, and it was really good. O-o I use it for my midi synths as well O-o
At least in the rap beats community. I was really annoyed and I didn't see any other "serious" beat production tutorials so that's my answer and lots of people been asking me for helf since I started. It's only 4 episodes so far and it's gaining lots of interest
Amazing tutorial man! Great to see your workflow. Do you have more such workflow breakdowns? I do not have a midi device so I use a mouse to click notes in. Its a struggle, but this sure taught me a few shortcuts
Glad I could help! There are a bunch of other Reaper videos on the channel already. You don't have to get a drum pad, just place the notes with your mouse 🖱
Yeah, you can, but it's not the most intuitive way. Just set up different tracks with separate instances and type in the correct "note start" and "note end" values for your pads. The inconvenience of this solution is that every tracks has the same MIDI item with all the parts of the drumkit. A much better solution is to load a different sampler with multiple outputs. Poise is one of them and it's totally free now. I haven't tested it out yet so I don't know if you actually can make separate outs, but I'm planning to make a vid about it asap
Hey man! This was just an introductionary episode to show a few features of Reaper and that making a beat is not that hard as people may think 😉 All the other videos about Reaper that are already out on the channel are much more detailed and every step is explained. Cheers!
@@WodzuBeats oh sorry I didn't realize that man, my bad, I was just a little frustrated so didn't mean to come across too sour, I'll definitely check out your other vids , I had just watched a bunch before yours too and i was a little annoyed
I can map a sample to every drum pad but not 1 sample to 1 drum pad and another sample to another drum pad and play/record them both in reaper at the same time. Can you assist?
Great video man. I have been trying to get my bass students into recording and Reaper is the way forward as it works on any mac or pc and of course is FREE...to trial ;)
Haha, you better buy it after that 600 days of trial usage! I think it's becoming more kind of a standard as a first DAW to just download and learn because of the unlocked trial period. I'm not gonna lie - I've bought it far more than after 60 days of usage 😁 Now as I have my license I'm 100% that was an investment worth every penny.
@@WodzuBeats ya I think people should buy it after a while. Give something back. If you ever want to collab on something drop me a line. Crazy fuzzed out bass sounds are my speciality
Not irony, just a mental shortcut I'd say 😁 I realize how it sounds like, it didn't caught my attention while editing - just put "actual beats" instead of "actual music" and everything should be clear 😀
Hey-hej^^, Added a loop to ReaSamplOmatick. Then I turn on the Semitone shifted mod. As a consequence, as the pitch rises or falls, the loop speed also rises or falls away from the tempo. How do you get rid of this effect and stick to the main tempo while controlling the pitch of any loop? Thanks in advance !
@@queesborgparty6662 on the contrary, Reaper is excellent for this. Record your loop and place it on a track. Grab the right end of the loop while pressing Option (sorry don’t know the Windows version) and drag to the length you want the loop to be. Then use Envelope editing of the track to change the pitches of your loops. This is all described in great detail in the Kenny Gioia videos from the Reaper website. Similar loop tuning and manipulation used to take me soooooo long in Cubase.
Thanks for the video, i found it helpful. I have a question regarding samples. Where would be a really good place to get free samples which could be used in the Reasampler?
dude, am moving from fl studio because am broke and i cant live without saving files. so i moved to reaper, and i was so close to giving up on it until i saw this video. the only thing am having trouble with is that i dont have a midi, only my keyboard, and i cant seem to be able to use it as a midi . please answer me and im subscribing... im desperate
and u know i like testing stuff on keyboard, so is it possible or not? also, IM BEGGING YOU..... MAKE MORE REAPER TUTORIALS FOR NOOBS LIKE ME. Like am starting from scratch and ur the only person who might save my life... everything looks so confusing and weird...
Press alt + B and the virtual midi keyboard will appear and you'll be able to play on your keyboard keys 😉 Lots of new episodes for newbies are already out on the channel! 🌊
The version in the video is 6.12c (it's always at the top bar of the window). Nowadays we have 6.29. This video is almost one year old 😉 If you're asking about the theme in the video I'm using iLogic Free, but now I'm using a donationware iLogic 2.65
I've made a big mind shortcut there, I was about to say "actual beats". I'm not a native English speaker and sometimes I find that kind of things as I edit my videos. I'm still learning though and I've started "thinking in English" more when I'm recording. I hope that explains everything 😉
As the evaluation reminder as you open Reaper tells you - it's not free and obtaining a license is obligatory, but Cockos (guys that made Reaper) don't want to take all the functionalities from you after the trial period. Reaper discounted license is $60 only, I think it's a bang for a buck as I haven't seen any fully functional DAW for that price.
Lost me like 20 seconds into the menus. I have no packs or VSTs, no MIDI controller, I can't seem to drag the track sideways to be a sub-track like you did, the theme alone is showing a lot more buttons than I can see on my theme and I don't know where to find anything. Does everything need to be a waveform sample before you can use it in a piano roll? Cos thats what it seems like from the video, its not just straight up piano roll midi like in other DAWs. I haven't been confused by another program of any type anywhere near this much. There should honestly be interactive tutorials that highlight features within the actual program because of how incredibly complex it is, I understand the customization dynamic but you can't sell linux to everyone, and the inbuilt amp/cab simulators sound like complete crap, I use my amp that has an optional DI-connection (thank god) to get tones as plugging in through my 2i2 and trying to use virtual gear is mindnumbingly tedious, as for good tones you have to buy expensive neural packs and know how to import everything, which also depends on the DAW you use, again, there is fuck-all information out there. It seems anyone who does "informative" videos spends 20 minutes talking about stuff we wont even look at until we have at least a whole year's experience in recording, we have to sift out the basics from the flood of irrelevant information for people just starting out.
Please go to an updated, step by step tutorial called "the ultimate guide to Reaper beat making" if you find something hard 😉 This video isn't even a tutorial - just an introduction to the series I've got on my channel.
@@WodzuBeats Add that FX to make the track for video. Kenny explains it better than I can. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QHcjUEOfAA0.html Jon Tidey has a few videos too.
