Sorry I can't be more specific but it depends on how competitive the niche is, and what I think the earning potential is for ranking on the first page. Likely $50-100
You say €17000 in royalties? Is that after Amazon have had their cut? But I suppose you have to deduct other costs like advertising? Is this correct? Many thanks Steve
Typical answer would be how long's a peice of string :D. + Fiction book - a year. + Good quality coloring book using AI - maybe 1 week + journal - 1/2 a day That hopefully gives you a bit of a guide :)
I prefer not to link any of my medium/low content books as copycats crop up, but I can share my fiction work if interested (although that's not where I earn money)
@@selfpublishingempire Sorry, do you mean to say that you create fiction, like high content novel type books, and those don't make as much money? I would have assumed the opposite, but obviously I don't know anything about it.
Yeah I started with fiction, wrote 4 books and 1 short story, but unfortunately these do not make money for me. My medium content books are the ones that make money (and I don't share these due to sharing in the past, copycats, and therefore my earnings being affected).
Keep publishing and doing thorough research, sales will definitely peak again. If you don't mind me asking. Kindly tell me what kinds of books you published
How do you deal with the tax etc and everything with thay , and alongside your day job? Just out of interest because no one ever covers that or copyright. Id be interested to know, it's not a criticism.
Absolutely, you can make money on Amazon KDP, and creating 100 books shows that you've put in a significant amount of work-that's impressive dedication! Your willingness to share your personal results and insights is incredibly valuable to newcomers and seasoned authors in the self-publishing community. I'm sure many are curious about the actual orders and revenue one can expect, and sharing your 5 tips could be a game-changer for many. If you can, please add a dedicated session for niche research; it would be interesting to see how a different approach might be applied. I'm looking forward to learning from your experience and applying your advice to increase sales and maximize earnings on KDP. Thanks for being open about your journey!
Hi there! You are exactly what I needed today. I am just starting out and currently have two books on Amazon. It hasn't even been a month yet, but I was starting to feel that I was simply succumbing to other people's business ventures. Thank you so much for your honesty, generosity, and helpful advice.
Great to hear that. Keep going with the books! You'll keep learning and getting better at publishing and marketing along the way and the results will come!
Will do! I'll likely make it broad rather than US specific just due to the audience, but the best way to do niche research is for me to give you the tools and knowledge for you to do it yourself.
I totally agree for the reviews: you must avoid the 1 and 2 stars. I have a good quality book for kindergarten and 2 bad reviews because people expected to have a thick cover like what they can find from big brands :( It may also come from competitors... when I click on their name, I see that all their reviews are only 1 or 2 stars. Unfortunately, I can do nothing. I continue to sell but no good review is coming to balance that. Have you also experienced that situation?
Sucked it up and created the next one. If the 1 star review seemed spammy/fake I reported it as well to Amazon. Trying to get more sales on it to get reviews to balance it out is viable as well, but will likely cost a decent chunk of change.
Watch some of my other income report videos to see that info. I spend money on ads but also make a good profit each month from my now 100 books. I'd also say watch my latest video on niche research because I think it's quality over quantity on amazon
In the interest of truth, honesty, and transparency - could you please list at least some of your best selling titles or pen names so we can take a look at the quality and the sales performance for ourselves - or if this information is already in some video or at some link, could you let us know what it is. Thank!
I think the time is already here where you need to use AI as a tool rather than a means to make books. I hope KDP will keep growing and I reckon low quality books will stop being accepted.
Oh 100%. This is just income but... May 2022 which was just my high content fiction novels - $33.88. May 2023 - $336 May 2024 - $2480 Hope that helps :). Been going with medium content publishing now for almost 2 years.
If it's not your work, or work not in the public domain then no you can't. If I created a new story and had it available only digitally and you created a hardcover for it to sell in physical form I could sue you, take your profits, and possibly lay charges on you. It would be the same as if you tried to release Harry Potter or IT with a new cover. There's something like 6 million books in the public domain currently and growing by the hour so your idea is possible, just make sure it doesn't take away profits from the og authors
yes very HIGH QUALITY. with AI all niches have become completely saturated. The coloring books I have sold have gotten 5 star reviews but I have only sold very few over the past few months. Novels non-fiction is an excellent nince but it has to be very high quality and you have to get traffic to it. There are so many books in every area now a days that it's not easy to get people to buy your books. I'm happy you are successful with your books but I know many peopl who have all kinds of books they published on KDP and some over 50 books and hardly sell and, and they are in popular niches to.
I actually just left a comment on another video of yours saying that you'll need about 100 books. I didn't realise it was an old video. Would be great to see the costs as you did before. A video on book cover design would also be super - it's the part that scares me the most!
Conclusion: Do the market research first Get the best cover either hire a freelancer or anything Market your book using Amazon ads only Do social media marketing also Build your own brand by making a author page Make series of books
Thank for your honest opinion! My biggest concern is how much money did you invest on hiring others to create your book and promoting your books like paying your ads?
