looks like an honest review. I've been considering buying this guitar as I transition from ukulele (taken up during Covid-19 lockdown) to guitar. Do you think it would be sutiable for a beginer (with a little ukulele experience)?
*******I have the Donner Hush x electric. I do/did love it and it does have now some sentimental value and Personal Mods just shy of installing a Sustainer System and on account my brother got it for me as a Gift a couple months ago. Lol in return I am building him, my brother a Travel bass loaded with compression, removable side rails, and built internal Roland GK3-b midi p.u. I sure wish Donner had better Assistance. I've been needing to find out the PROPER Snug fitting Hex Nut Truss key size. They do not Know. I need to be able(without stripping nut) loosen hex truss nut so I can Light heat bed and rig it up on my Neck Straightening Tools. The Neck has TOO MUCH Relief! Also to note: the body where the Hex key entry just beneath their logo plate had to have an extended carve back toward the logo plates screw hole just to even get a hex key entry. I dont want to Strip this truss nut. What Size are you Using? None of my Stew mac, Music Nomad nor Bevy of Hex/Allen keys fit this thing Properly.*******
Thanks for the tips. I purchased one a few days ago. When connecting to a desktop amp does yours buzz when not touching the strings? When I touch the 1st or 2nd strings the buzz stops.
A lot of paid reviews on RU-vid talking about how cool it is, but you're one of only 2 or 3 that talk about how awful the setup is out of the box. Sounds like getting a sanding block might really help me there, I didn't go for it since I wasn't sure if the element was under the bridge or in/as the bridge, but I'll have to do that next week sometime. The wood on yours should be mahogany, that's the only wood they do with that finish. Doesn't feel as heavy as mahogany, and I doubt it's solid at that price, but that's what they say.
The body is tiny, so it could be solid. But they never did explain why it looks the way it does where the tuners are installed. I think the pickup is just a typical under the saddle piezo. Nothing unusual.
Is there a debate about the playability, while there are dozens of videos of folks playing the product right out of the box. Does the definition of "playability", for some folks, mean that it is adjusted to an electric guitar setup...versus the higher setup of acoustic guitars? I understand the strings start are 10 to 47 gauge, so perhaps that helps in the challenges of the higher setting. Just asking. Have not purchased one.
@@TrilobitesRTastyNo, this is acoustic-action vs totally-useless-action. Right out of the box it was unplayable, the truss rod was completely loose. Even with that adjusted, the bridge is way too high. The videos of people taking it right out of the box and playing it are definitely editing that out, or getting pre-setup instruments for their review videos.
@@zacangerI took a chance and got a refurbished one on Black Friday sale. I’m a noob so it’s good for me and it has light 12-47 strings, so not hard to push the strings around. They came out with a Hush-X as a non-acoustic version, so maybe that will be better for guitarists. Thank you for the insights! 🙂
I can tell you from personal experience that the dry earphone sound of the Donner is horrible compared to the Yamaha which has reverb. And you must have a huge suitcase. It doesn’t fit in my biggest suitcase.
