They were all familiar to me aged 76 except number 3, I didn't recognize. We had a black and white nine inch TV which you had to watch in the dark. No remote needed - there was only one channel, BBC. Thanks for bringing back memories.
all great "classic" shows, which showed Love, Warmth, Family, Honesty, Integrity, Goodwill, etc. don't forget others like HAZEL the maid, Dragnet (detectives), and a bunch of Western/Cowboy shows
I love Lucy. Dennis the Menace.Father knows Best,Leave it to beaver, the Twilight zone, The Lone Ranger, Perry Mason, Wagon Train, The Donna Reed Show,
I got 'em all, watched 'em all. The introductory "Shall we play a game" came from the War Games movie in the 80s. I love that one and have it in my collection.
I got 6 out of 10, the other four as far as I know were not shown in the Uk, or if they were I never saw them. Perry Mason was a great favourite in our house.
Well, the stage name "Michael Landon" looked a whole lot better than the actor's real name, Eugene Orowitz. Imagine his face with that name in the credits. I still think of him as the star of "I Was a Teenage Werewolf."
Bonanza I Love Lucy, Dennis the Menace, Father Knows Best, Leave it To Beaver, twilight Zone, Lone Ranger, Perry Mason, Wagon Train, Donna Reed, Yay I got all of them 🤓
A working colleague of mine used to tell the story of how she was RESCUED by the Lone Ranger.... Yup! For real! She was a lovely lady named Shirley that I remember most fondly from our time working in in Cobham. While still a little girl attending school Shirley was injured at the school's summer fête. Clayton Moore, who was there to open the event in the character of Lone Ranger... ... (a role they say he had difficulty in NOT playing)... ... gallantly took Shirley in his big American open-topped car with cow horns on the bonnet (hood) to the local hospital Casualty Department (now called Accident and Emergency) and carried her into the building in his arms, all the while wearing the mask, the hat, the lot! Not surprisingly, this caused a sensation with the medical staff!. Who was that masked man? Well, it really WAS the Lone Ranger. # Ta-d-dum, ta-d-dum, ta-d-dum-dum-dum # This happened in UK. not the States.... in Surrey, Walton on Thames I think it was... if I remember Shirley's story correctly, which means the hospital was probably St Peters. (I hope that nice lady is still OK... none of us are young anymore.)
yes @Robert, cuz in those days, more substance and better story-lines; not a bunch of sex, violence, ignorance, hatred, immorality, etc as we have today
Amen, brother, amen! It seems the prime time TV shows today are aimed at the lowest possible common mental denominator for intelligence. If my wife ever turns the channel to a "2 Broke Girls" rerun, I swear I will shoot the TV.
My grandson was examining the drum set in our church when his mom told him not to play with the drums. His reply, "Well, actually, Mom, you don't play drums. You just beat them." (grin) Yeah. A song he heard while watching Dagwood 'beating' the drums on an old Blondie movie I had bought on dvd. My grandchildren really enjoy these old black and white movies and tv serials that some of my generation and many others in the next gen have denigrated. Right now I am looking for the earlier Captain Kangaroo tv shows in black and white. Anyone know where to go? Looking for 1950s and 1960s.
AllenCajah Playz We recently were watching an episode of Live PD a reality show that follows cops on the job. The cop pulled over a guy who was driving erratically. The guy said “I wasn’t driving, just traveling!”😂
These were easy. The reason I'm searching this stuff is for the name of a show that came on in the mid-fifties. I was 3 or 4 at the time. The show's intro had a young boy running, in terror, across the screen. He was looking over his shoulder as he ran, tripped, fell, then got to his feet and ran offscreen. After he was gone, a giant frog, about the size of, and walking upright like a man, came across the screen, chasing the boy. Anyone know the show? I can't find anyone that even remembers it, much less knows the name. I probably wouldn't remember it if it hadn't scared the crap out of me.
I watched Perry Mason a lot but one day it dawned on me the endings were very similar, due to his superior lawyer skills he'd have the bad guy confessing almost every time.
#7...."The Lone Ranger" was the name of the show. 1. Clayton Moore played the Lone Ranger. 2. Jay Silverheels played Tonto, his friend (Kemosabee). 3.Jay Silverheels was a Champion La Crosse player in Canada. Just a mention,
IIRC, Clayton Moore had a contract dispute 1 year and the Lone Ranger was played by John Hart. This was only for that 1 season, thank goodness. And, in the 2 episode origin of the Lone Ranger, the evil Butch Cavendish whose gang ambushed and killed all the Rangers except for the Lone Ranger was played by actor Glenn Strange who most famously played Sam the bartender at the Long Branch Saloon in Gunsmoke.
God help me, I got em all. Too easy! Now, if I had any inkling of how to do it, I'd make up a 50s/60s TV show quiz that might not be a skate! Would you recognize the opening credits to I Led Three Lives?
