A classic daily driver, out of the choices on offer you could not go wrong using the MGB GT, followed by the Stag with winter hard top on for cold weather and of course there are many daily users of the Austin A40 and Morris Minor. Good theme. Cheers Bob

Excellent video Harley and first class topic to discuss. The SLS is to die for but definitely not a daily driver. One of your best videos to date and you have put much thought into creating it. I think and I watched it first this morning. Agree the MR2 would be on the list.

The Sunbeam Tiger has always been a big favourite of mine and sounds wonderful. At the other end of the spectrum that 3-wheeled Morgan looks great fun. Turning to your question of practical 'daily drives', I think that of the cars at the meet the MGB GT wins hands down, and your grandad's MGB GT is a super example!. Sensible insurance premiums and running costs, available spares and club support, relatively easy DIY repairs and maintenance, decent maintenance intervals, and, unlike shouty sports cars, not a target for the criminal fraternity and vandals. I'd say the Roadster version is not practical due to the discomfort and lack of refinement of a convertible, and the hood's attraction to craft-knife wielding yobs.

I used to "daily" an MGB GT back in 1972, but it was brand new, it was a special order on the factory, Harvest Gold, dark blue interior, headrests, overdrive, inertia reel seat belts, heated rear window, servo brakes and "Sundym" glass, had to wait 6 months for delivery, so nothing has changed.............

The MGB GT is a tempting option

That's forgiven when you have a mini with a VTEC swap 😂

With increasing confidence and knowledge matched to a deeper and relaxed voice/delivery for me it marks a considerable change in you, Harley, which surely indicates that you will soon be able to drive and road test your beloved classics on the road. As to a daily driver, though practicality is important, as well as reasonable fuel consumption and repairs, my choice also would need performance and style. So either an Jaguar XK drophead or a 3.4 Mark 2 - nowt beast a straight 6 twin cam! Rob

Nice video. As for daily driving, very few actual classics would be suitable. Certainly no older sports car would be suitable nor anything pre-1970’s. The main reason being the service requirements- oil, greasing, filter changes and service intervals were as frequent as every 1000 miles and would become a chore relatively soon.

Maybe a yes but it would need 4 forward gears a proper heating de misting system good brakes proper indicators with 12 V lighting and a economical petrol driven engine other wise a big NO from me as i feel really early cars are now to dangerous to be driven daily with modern traffic even on a Sunday morning love your videos keep safe.

Great video Harley. I feel you raised an interesting point regarding the condition of the car. I would love to run another moggy minor however if it were a good example would I be concerned about daily use causing rust and deterioration . Maybe finding something half decent and using modern rustproofing is the answer. I bet you look forward to owning your first on the road car!!!!!!!!

Yes it's an interesting balance, you wouldn't want to use anything pristine

Loved the Saab, with the racing spec... in fact, all the racing spec cars. (Tiger, TR4, etc...) I think it's the "form follows function" approach which gives the modifications their authenticity. Mostly not on your list of daily drivers, I guess. However, you can't help yourself by gravitating to them. So, I'm not alone (in the dream of having enough money), to maintain the most "badass" car on the street, in order that it can be the "daily", regardless of practicality.

A really affordable daily driver would be the Rover P4, especially the later 100 and 110. They have the front disc brakes and overdrive. They would easily handle 70 or 80 mph on the motorways. The P5 is another affordable daily driver. Bu then having owned two P4s over the years I would be easily convicted of being biased.

A P4 makes sense, interesting choice!
