I think it's a multi-layered joke since this ENTIRE bit is about separating the awful things actors have done (even though I think putting Shia Labeouf up there with a rapist and an anti-Semite is a bit harsh) from their real life actions so you can still enjoy their work. He could have chosen any other other drama (except Hacksaw Ridge because then you have the same issue), I don't think it was an accident that he chose the one with Casey Affleck though, even if this was filmed months ago the sexual harassment charges are from 2010, so I'm sure they knew about them when this was made.
