Street photography is one of my favourite things to do when travelling. Here's a video from my time in Toronto and Calgary, shooting with a caged Canon R8, a 35mm f/1.4, and my phone mounted up top.
Let me know what you shoot with, and if you think it has any effect on your actual end product.
Thanks for watching!

Great music choice on this - also the library shots were wonderful. One of the best buildings I’ve been in.

the architecture is wonderful in Calgary, thanks Chris! Unrecognizable from when I left almost 20 years ago.

I've never shot street photography, but your video made it enticing. I used to live in Rochester, NY not far from Toronto and visited often. It is my favorite city. I miss going their and your video re-woke my love for that city. I would like to learn how you set up your camera and phone to work like you did. I have a similar camera (R6 Mark II) and how you mounted the phone to the camera.

Thanks for sharing Vic! I have a phone bracket with a cold-shoe mount that’s attached to the cage on my other R8. Found it on amazon, nothing fancy!

Very nice photos. Do you shoot in silent mode? How does the r8 pair with 35 1.4? Do you get any purple fringing ?

Most of the time a Canon 6Dmkii with a 24-105 f/4 or a Canon 5DmkIV with 70-200 f/2.8, so pretty big. Like it that way for street.

Have 5dm2+50mm 1.4. Its ok but smaller camera is more practical to wear every day.

A little easier on the wrist too, I’m sure 😅 Thanks Jan!

@@sergiopstudio short focal lenght is more important, i find 50mm longest tolerable, but 35mm better. I like to take my pictures close.

@@sergiopstudio yes, heavy lenses also make handling the camera slower. Even tho i always want to have fast lens too, but often in street photography something like 35mm 2.8 is fast enough because in daylight i keep it stopped go f8. Only when i had leica m my lens was 35mm 1.4 because it was so tiny. But similar lens for canon is huge.
