My dream job in tech is to simply land a job in tech! LOL! I have spent the past four years in self study and building out my portfolio so I can build the experience needed to land that dream job in tech. Ideally, the job I am looking is to be a Software Developer on a team of developers where I can be mentored and expand my skills, and eventually mentor others. I want to be part of a team where we look out for each other and support each other. A positive work environment. That is my dream job.

@@skysky4198 No, unfortunately I haven't. I am pivoting by taking some more courses towards another certification to pad my resume and continuing my efforts to work on more projects. It's going to take time.

@ashergreen3732 my bs physics degree is going to be completes in 2025...and by that i would be 25you...should i go for another bachelor degree that is bscs to enter tech field ??? I have interest in tech field ...

And then on completion of second bachelors i would be 29 ...would it be worth it?? Or should i just give up on tech??? And do m phill and then also i would be jobless od would be doing teaching on 20 to 25k pkr salery???

@@skysky4198 Don't bother with the second degree. And if you love tech as much as I do, then don't give up. You just need to pivot. Focus on the things you love doing and of those things get certifications on the things that are needed. Just because the job market is down now, doesn't mean it will be forever. There will always be jobs. You just need to be flexible to keep learning and growing. That's the key. The moment you stop learning it's game over. If one job is taken over by a machine, other job opportunities open up. Watch the movie Hidden Figures. In the movie the Human Computers were taken over by mainframe computers, and what did they do? They learned to program them. This is called pivoting, and the secret to continued. success.

I have a bit of a unique perspective, as I work for a large BPO servicing Fortune 500s. All of our clients are shrinking, making it harder for all job seekers as there are less opportunities 😢. I feel it’s not just hitting Tech… everyone is feeling it. It’s also worrisome seeing the largest/successful US companies going into survival mode instead of thriving and having opportunities for employment. Let us hope things turn around because right now, it’s not looking the best. 🙏

Thank you, this helps. It's been really discouraging lately, I've encountered lots of similar issues to what you talk about (like experience requirements, sometimes even multiple Cert requirements), all for pay that was LESS than my retail job I got laid off at - and that just for an entry-level desktop technician. One of them was even a 3-day temp gig that STILL demanded all this experience, just to set up some workstations. Like I said, very frustrating and demotivating, and it feels impossible to break in. I'll give your advice a shot though! Thank you for what you do, videos like this help a lot, genuinely.

In my opinion you do not need a degree to land a great job in tech, but you will need a degree even up a masters degree for some executive positons. I want a Phd just for the bragging rights.

That's cheap guys so educational institution providing these degrees help getting promoted . That's lame coz the companies are making some arrangements with colleges so that they keep on getting the money even if those degrees are useless

I'm from Brazil and I don't have a degree, I currently work in the technology area with more than 10 years of experience, I focused my career on certification in learning English, I've worked for large technology companies like IBM and Equinix, today I work remotely from Brazil to a UK company. 😄 Your channel is very good, I already subscribed.

I just got a job in BI (data analysis) with not experience. I'm a tech savvy (34yo) so I'm doing a chance of career. I'm studying SQL and then I'll start with PowerBI

I think now days, you do need the experience and credentials. The job market is tough, especially in Tech. Definitely get some experience and network. Great info Tiff

I'm Brazilian living in Ireland, I finished my postgraduate degree in computer science here and I have experience with IT support and Oracle DBA in Brazil. It has been difficult to enter the market as a developer in Ireland, due to the visa as well and no experience. My goal is to get a job as a software engineer here in Ireland and as IT companies only give visas to more experienced people, I have to get a work visa with a chef to stay in the country and get a passport in the future. and being able to enter the technology area

Looking for my first tech job (surprise-surprise haha)! I’m working on a few colabs with other engineers as well as freelancing. I’m also working on a CS degree part time. Just trying to get in there somehow! I do love the process of learning this and getting better every day.

The last six months i was jobless due to a toxic environment i couldn't handle, my health is more important but i put myself in difficulty for finding a new job. When you don't work and you apply it's not easy. My new contract begins next month as an ops consultant, FINALLY. Cheers Tiff

Working now as FE dev since 4 years, after a 12 week coding boot camps. I want to switch to a data engineer job. I'm taking a data science course now, but it's so difficult to do that at the same time as a full time job.

My dream job is to be a supply chain scientist. I'm 3 classes away from having a bachelor's degree in supply chain, transportation, and logistics management. Looking to pursue my masters degree in logistics and supply chain management with a focus in statistics and probability

I work for a consulting company, and one of our top clients is a relatively large tech company. This company recently fired a lot of engineers and tech support staff in the us, and moved all these positions to India, why? well, one of the engineers that was not fired told us that this tech client is pouring millions into AI, so they can eliminate as much positions as possible in the US. I am not american but this we're going to be good thinking is not the real world. Most companies do not want to do anything with americans or high paid employees because India and Latin America offer them better options for cheap.

I'm completing a degree in Physics Maths and now 5 years back into net and python, SQL field. The degree only shows that you can work hard and can complete something. But i must admit, physics maths and IT degree really helps you to think analytically and problem solve. There are so much new stuff out there, its more about problem solving for me than anything else

@@skysky4198 I did. I used my modules and work experience to leverage going forward. Fintech is the most demand for full stack, but its also the most stressful :) Dont worry too much about front end, worry about rest apis and relation databases like sql

Tiff the traditional 4 year path to a college degree is not applicable in some cases, with the high cost of Uni! I'm a firm believer in trade schools and it isn't a bad idea for blue collar careers choices, one can be well on their way in a career in quarter of the time it takes to achieve that Degree and pay an 1/8 the dollar amount. In TECH for sure that degree is needed but also the experience helps, GREAT communication skills, helps not to be introverted which I struggle with also Tiff. Thanks for Sharing

Hi Tiff, I started watching your videos because I have been learning how to program and to improve my English haha (because I am Spanish speaker) these days I've asked myself the same question. Will I able to get a job? Because I am a civil engineer but some years ago I realize that I love coding and I've made a lot of efforts to became a programer but sometimes I feel afraid about all of this sitation and I think what happend if I've wasted my time and I never get a job as a programmer. I don't want to give up, because this is my passion but it's impossible to avoid having doubts. Greeting from Chile!

A person who recommends freelancing definitely has never done this herself. Yeah, go freelancing if you want to work for peanuts and compete for a project with thousands of indians and chinese.

In this AI era the value of digree is decresing and there is high demand of skills and experience so this is wrong to say you need a digre.digree can help to get a job but still this not strictly needed.

No you can't. Maybe 3 years ago you could. But now days, now way. You are competing against people with actual CS degrees, Engineers etc. Or if you don't have one, you need to have at least 3 years of experience. I gave up hunting for a job as a programmer. I did a bootcamp and was looking for a job for more than a year. More than 500 applications, got the interviews but i always got stuck with the experience part. So i decided to go back as a business analyst. Two months applying as one, and got the job. Too many lies told to people out there. The gold rush is finished.
