Can you use old TV cables for a quick Helium Miner setup

In this video we raise our opinion / concerns about using existing TV / satellite coaxial cables for Helium mining setups. We look at impedance mismatches, different RF connectors ( N-Type, RP SMA, F and PAL), as well as coaxial cable health and cable losses.
It's a short video, with a simple answer. We do NOT believe you should consider using old cables that come from another system and another impedance as it will cause complications, losses and probably loss of returns.

Thanks for the great video and detail explanation. What if I want to use an LMR400 but repurpose an existing wall plate for Helium mining (to avoid drilling more holes), would there be any signal loss or issues from using the existing connector? Thanks again!

Hi Simon. You will just need to make sure the connectors are 50 Ohm and not 75 Ohm. It might be possible to replace the connectors inside the wallplate though

Hello sir I recently started watching your videos and they are straight to the point and I love them. I just want to know is it possible to use a strong 4g antenna for my helium miner?

Hi...great question and probably yes. In the beginning we tried to convince customers that 4G antennas will work perfectly fine for IoT / Helium but most users just wanted to see the word Helium in the antenna description so we stopped doing that. However, the 4G antennas work in that frequency range so it's perfectly fine to use. In-fact, the omni antenna I use as demonstrator in my "reflection" video is a 4G / 5G marine antenna and works amazing for Helium !!

Thanks for the information. I have a MNTD Blackbox. The cable is rg58 for 5.8dbi antenna I bout separate. Why is so so hard for me to find the proper connector or adapter? The Antenna has male output and so does the black box.. what do I need and where can I get this from? Thank you

Hi...it should indeed be very easy. Your device has RP SMA(F) and you'll need a cable with RP SMA(M) connector. Then you antenna can be a few types, but it's likely to have an N(M) so your cable will need an N(F).

i have a box on my wall that connects to communal antennas with 3 connections. 1 says tv, the other says satellite and the 3rd says radio. could i use the radio connector? would that be 50 ohm? thanks :)

Maybe send me a photo. I do think that those are all 75OHm connectors though
