Can you weigh Fallout collectors edition boxes for surge foils? MTG Fallout unboxing and opening 1!

Bought a case of Magic the Gathering Universes Beyond Fallout Collectors Edition booster boxes and thought I'd see if boxes can be 'searched' for surge and other foils. Surge foils are worth the more $$ out of all the variants. This is part 1 on the experiment where I crack open the heaviest box to see if it holds more foils than the lighter boxes.
Also, let's see if I can hit a serialised Bobblehead! #mtg #collectiblecardgame #fallout #magicthegathering #ccg

😂 if weighing works so much, wotc can put in "dessicant packs" to help your weigh.

They do that for hobby and sports cards - they put in filler cards to prevent folks from trying to pick the packs with the thick inserts. In this case, this is for my personal collection and just an experiment. Coz why not. Thanks for watching.

the shrink wrap isnt consistently applied, measure it with plastic off

This is just for kicks. Not being super scientific about it. Also, my scale sucks. It's used for coffee making and isn't accurate enough to pick up the minute differences between packs.

Me apparently. Just a Fallout fan spending my hard-earned money on cards to open for my channel and collection. Thanks for watching.

Integrity means nothing obviously

Erm. Not quite sure what you mean. I'm cracking these for my personal collection and just doing taking a different take on box openings. Not sure what integrity has to do with my personal opening but thanks for the comment.

@@SLowMtG if the truth is that boxes with surge foils have a different weight than those without, that leads me to believe that some companies that sell these boxes, not saying you, will keep the boxes with the surge foils for opening to sell singles, then yeah, the integrity of that process is highly questionable. I made that comment because, I do believe this happens and it was a general statement regarding the fact that this finding and/or question of this theory in the first place has the potential of creating a precedent of said questionable integrity.

@@architectofdreams73 I get you. This has happened for other card games like One Piece where boxes/packs are 'searched'. MTG itself has a history of packs being searched by stores/collectors alike. Back in the day 93/94 packs were searchable due to the cellophane being white and slightly transparent - you could push the card to the white portion and see what it is. Later on in the era of foils, there was a way to slide the packs side-to-side so you could feel the friction of a foil card in a pack. Etc. I really should post my 2nd video - TLDR, it's going to be hard to pack search for surge foils as there are so many types of foils in a pack. The best you can do is to open packs with more foils - but there's no way to distinguish between surge or otherwise. At least not unless you have some way of weight down 3-4 decimal points in accuracy.

@@SLowMtG there also used to be box mapping if you recall. Some say it still exists...but there is no definitive proof. Some say there is an algorithm to certain cards and their percentage of likelihood of showing up in a pac based on sheet prints, etc. I will give you an example of what I mean. So I wanted to buy a case of the Fallout Collectors boosters, but at that point in time, nobody had a full case for sale. Statistically speaking, the chances of getting a serialized bobblehead was somewhere in the ballpark of 1:500 give or take. So in theory, you have potential of getting one per case at 180 cards per box. There were a few stores that only had 5 boxes for sale. My lgs said they only got 4 boxes shipped. But they were using single packs as prizes at their FNM event on the release date of Fallout, which would account for at least one more box. All of this had me suspicious that somehow these sellers figured out which box out of the case had the serialized card and possibly sold the card under some other name or whatever. I didnt get a serialized bobblehead in opening 5 boxes, and while that is statistically possible, I still have my suspensions, but that's just a theory....a case theory.

@@architectofdreams73 I don't know if mapping still exists - but there's something to be said about Fallout collation. In my 4 boxes so far (from the same sealed case), there was a tendency to have a similar card appear across multiple variants. For example, I might open a card in regular set foil, EA and either EA NF or F. Strange. And you tend to get 1 surge foil per box in either the Pipboy or VATs showcase. Also, I'm not sure the odds of the Serialised are 1:500? It's in less than 1% of the print run.
