The tallest man in German army captured, about 10 min or bit earlier. Name, Jacob...' forgot he's surname. He was a well known circus performer before war in usa and after war. Lived in usa. Known as tallest man in world. Does anyone know if he had children , and if so how tall they were ? Surname was Jacob nacken

My grandfather was part of the normandy landing but he was in the medical corps and he was in a french regiment named Les Voltigeurs. I would like to know where he goes and which battle he did... it’s so hard to find further informations

I spent some time researching some things in this video, may as well share it.. operation to take Boulouge was known as Operation Wellhit. The little general was Ferdinand Heim and before being assigned to defend Boulogne he had spent time in solitary confinement, a scapegoat, it is said, for what happened in the east during Operation Uranus. He was retired, then was returned to command at Boulogne. About the tall soldier .. he's 7 foot six Jakob Nacken and he's shown with Canadian army corporal 5 foot three Bob Roberts (who was alive as of 2015) .. in 2015 Roberts received his Legion d’honneur medal through the mail and an article was written about him. In the article Roberts is described as raised in Canada and coming over during the war yet one of Britain's smallest soldiers? And an another article as a tiny tommy. Confusing. He was in the Canadian army at that time however. Nacken spoke good english and Roberts asked him where he learnt it, and Nacken told him it was while in the circus in America. After the war Nacken worked in Ripleys believe it or not on Broadway billed as tallest man on earth! Mr Roberts said: "I didn't take a lot of notice of this guy at the time. I just passed the prisoners on one after the other after searching them. "But my mates who were watching the rest of the men saw this giant of a guy approach me and I was aware they and the Germans were having a good laugh."
