Grew up in a small town in Niagara region during the 90s/00s, and it's not even an affordable area of ON anymore. It's wild. Simple, early to mid 1900s 2-3 bedroom homes ranging around 1600 sq. ft. were around $100K CAD, but now that same sort of home goes for $500K at least in an area with very few career jobs or even full-time employment. Not sure how home prices and the limited amount of apartments could go for so high given that wages have only doubled rather than quadrupled like these prices. . .

why is the bulk of immigrants from just India and mostly unskilled?,Our strength in Canada is our diversity ,they need to spread the opertunites to other countries to draw from different strength and skills.and btw here in sask ,most of the black folks i know around here have 2 or more jobs and seize every oputunity at decent employment.

Another perspective: my ethnicity is Punjabi but i was born & raised in Vancouver since 1996…. I was a hustler straight out of high school….. always stayed trapping so did my peers. That’s why Vancouver gang violence is the most prolific in the whole country…. Most people don’t understand that the reason there are no jobs has nothing to do with immigration….. I’m a business owner. The new generation doesn’t want to work. I don’t blame them i could never have a bunk ass job either. That’s why I got into medical cannabis. The new generation of trappers, hustlers, youtubers/streamers , Self employment, is huge in Vancouver. It’s shamed upon to basically have a job if your from Vancouver you get looked at as a loser. You 100% will not get a woman in Vancouver if your a 9-5 guy. It’s like LA out here. There’s alot of wealth in BC. Growing up if you had a job you get laughed at by your peers. “Look at this square,” “non hustler” etc etc. this is the land of self employment success out west. That’s why immigrants scoop up those shitty jobs normally teens would get. I’m 27 and I was the same. I would no way under no circumstances work for another company or person, I was taught by a mentor and started my own grey market cannabis company. And no it’s not in a dispensary , dispensary weed is crap no one buys that in Vancouver. Blame the education system and government…. We already knew none of us were getting jobs before 10th grade lol. We saw the downfall of working a job growing up. All of my generation growing up we’re not going to be slaved working 9-5 like our parents being an employee for some other persons passive income. Think of it the owner of Tim hortons doesn’t work in the actual restaurant, employees are there to run it and that’s someone else’s passive income… no way a young millennial or gen z will do that growing up in Vancouver, that brings shame! that’s why immigrants get those jobs in the first place… out west in Vancouver BC it’s either boss up , or bum down. There’s no in between. The ones that boss up stay and flourish within Vancouver, and the ones who don’t make it end up moving to Alberta or sask and other shittier provinces alike. Really there’s no where in Canada that’s really nice except Vancouver and Toronto , the rest is a shittier quality of life.. Vancouver at least offers that LA luxury lifestyle but at a price $$$!

Can't hate another group for playing the game. It's who you know not what you know, difference is that it's like this now more than ever. Some of the past generations still had it better.
