Happy 155th birthday Canada!
On this day (July 1st) in 1867, Canada gained its independence from Great Britain.
This year, many celebrations were planned to take place here at
Canada's capital - Ottawa. The CF-18 Demo team had an early morning fly over the National War Memorial, and the Canadian Skyhawk Parachute team who leased out a Shorts SC-7 from Parachutisme Nouvel Air will be making a jump in the morning, and a second in the afternoon over Parliament. The first jump was canceled due to high winds, but the second went as planned.
The Snowbirds were also suppose to fly over parliament however, they had to cancel because of mechanical issues with their aircraft.
This years theme for the CF-18 Demo jet is "Fighter operations at home and abroad". The geometric pattern livery on the tail and wings is in reference to what the aircraft's namesake is - The CF-188 Hornet. The aircraft is flown by Captain Jessie Haggart-Smith.
What do you think of this theme? Do you like the livery? Let me know!
