I have never been to Caribana for this exact reason and the fact they try to appease too many different groups,Carnival is about soca an calypso traditional music and all other sub genres,playing anything else goes against the being of what carnival is all about.

Cultural preservation is nothing to worry about, as long as the Caribbean islands that celebrate carnival continue to do so,we good.

TriniCrew I hear you and you are right. At the end of the day we can all go to Trinidad, Cayman, Antigua etc to celebrate carnival. It would be a shame though, to see it fall apart here in Toronto after so many years.

Cassandra Carmichael 2014 was by far the worst. Hopefully a change can be made before the plug is pulled.

They had to bands run through Exhibition Place and thought that the main judging should be on the Lakeshore. Who hired the people who made this decision. They should be all FIRED. People in the stadium saw people running pass them and did not enjoy what they saw. It was nothing enjoyable like previous years. Check some of the videos in Exhibition Place. I never go on the Lakeshore and I stayed home for the 2nd time since its inception because I was not pleased with new location of the stage in Exhibition Place because most of the bleachers should have been before the bands went on the stage and not after the stage. They just made a mess of everything this year.

Not safe for everyone....there were a group of female masqueraders that had the top part of their costume ripped and were groped under the fabric by a group of assholes trying to 'cop a feel'. Also someone got stabbed this year.

Godfrey Mcintosh Definitely safer than the NY carnival.. always shooting and whatever else... will be checking it out this year..

I beg to differ it's totally disorganized, costumes are not the best and looks very congested more look like a big street party, only thing really happening good there is the unification of Caribbean nationals and Canadians Trinidad and Tobago carnival should be totally carbon copy here if were to consider World best.

Which is why I always run when it comes on. There’s a few soca songs. I literally run 4 life. Especially if I am in the middle of the crowd
