It's to expensive and the money should be spend on education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, job creation, infrastructure and agriculture. We have seen it in South Africa and Brazil, not worth it. Just an interesting observation with the World Cup Qualifying format being introduced for the 2026 World Cup. If it becomes the new standard, then the next time South America hosts the World Cup there is a potential that 8 out of 10 of their nations will compete.
Canada and Mexico are each going to use 3 stadiums which they already have. They may need to renovate one or two of them to make them ready for the WC, but none of the three hosts are building new stadiums specifically for the World Cup.
If only it was similar with the Qatar situation, Qatar alone never should’ve hosted alone, it should’ve been Arabia 2022 with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and UAE.

Kald Saad I mean it will end up like Brazil if it was in Morocco with abandoned stadiums that cost hundreds of millions of dollars. If they were to host, all that revenue they would supposedly receive for that host country will be given to FIFA instead, so it’s better for Morocco and let them try to develop their nation more.
FIFA needed this so football can grow here in the North America. Being Mexican, futbol is big for me but I live in the USA and here is not big and I am glad we will get it in 2026 soccer as it’s called in the USA will grow hopefully here. And fifa will benefit unfortunately but it’s ok I can’t wait sorry Morocco.
With all honesty, This is more for the U.S. The United States is going to host the majority of the games due to its highest number of cities. Mexico and Canada were the boost to help make this a winning bid. But of course the fifa people probably wanted something new for a change. However, still glad I’m going to be able to see the World Cup in person.

@@lighttower2931 Getting so expensive to hold the tournament that the number of bidders declines. Portugal has never hosted a WC so it stands a good chance in 2030. Morocco would be the only African country that could hold the tournament. However I think Portugal, England, and Spain are the best 3 choices.

That or the UK/Ireland Bid. As an Irish Canadian I’d love to be able to attend 2 World Cups back to back. But I think it’ll go to South America Bid because of the fact it’ll be the 100th Anniversary of the first World Cup so people will vote on that sentiment.

Nothing against football (soccer as we call it in the U.S.), but my home city in the U.S. was named a 'host city' for the '26 championship games World Cup..almost a month ago, and I just now heard about it. And it should be a big deal here, as we are the smallest city/metropolitan area on the list in Canada/Mexico/U.S. But..we are a bit out of touch with the outside world here in the heartland of the U.S. Anyway, congrats Kansas City, Missouri..make us proud hosting soccer fans!
