I am from Denmark and we don’t just get high-school for free, but also university and college. We also get money for going to school called SU, from high-school and forward (this amount of money will be enough to rent a one bedroom apartment but not much more ) but it makes so that students only need part time jobs or student jobs to make it work.
Yeah, it's similar in Norway, probably true for all the Nordics as it's crucial due to how the economy in our nations works. Lower education positions is paid more in the Nordics, while higher education positions are paid less, comparatively to most nations - basically a smaller gap between the two groups, and this helps balance the budget for many corporations. With everyone having the opportunity to take the highest form of education we get a greater pool of higher educated people in the Nordics which in turn reduces the competition for that labor group, allowing companies to pursue more advanced tech more easily. This is actually win-win, because a higher educated person in the Nordics have the trade-off that they will generally be less overworked and have more time for family/friends than colleagues in other nations where the pool of such workers is more limited and thus more competitive.
Denmark here, worth and value .. I earn around $255 to $360 a day, depending on the hours and day of the week, and my present part-time job as a night watch with no degree required (though I do have one) is nothing fancy. But do remember that it include 6 weeks' fully paid vacation a year + 10 holydays and a pension scheme, free health insurance and no need to save up money for a higher education, in fact you even get paid to study, up to around $885 a month for a college university education.
Lets be honest here, on average Scandinavia's have more freedom to do what they want, the USA brag about being more wealthy, but that wealth belong to the 1% most rich, and not to the average "joe".
Danes have no problem with other cultures or the color of skin. But just as the USA may have trouble with illegal immigrants from South America (that Danes have no problem with), you may notice that the Danish government (left to the US Democrats) are vastly more strict about all that has to do with Islam, the key reason being the Danish Muhammed cartoon riots of 2006 with burning Danish flags and embassies all over the Muslim world and following terror attacks, being a "game-changer" in Danish politics, like it or not.
