Injured Ukrainian soldiers arrive to Poland for treatment in July.
One of them was Borys who comes from Lviv to the hospital in Czeladź.
"I got under shelling by GRAD. Those are cluster projectiles.
GRAD shoots with cluster projectiles. It happened near town called Slaviansk. When this happened I was thinking where to flee - Poland or everywhere else" - said Borys to tvnews.pl
Borys has undergone three surgeries but, as he claims, when he gets back on his feet, he will continue to fight for his homeland and he adds:
"I don't want to live in such country as Russia. We are free people,we were born free. I don't want to be ruled and threatened by those usurpators. I'm a free man and my child, my grandchildren will be like me. Each and every one in Ukraine fells like it. It makes us strong".
The doctor Oksana Bilopolets has been working at the Hospital in Czeladź for over a year.
"It was so difficult to see a lot of young men, compatriots who wounded so heavily. They arrived from my country. I wanted to cry so badly,my heart was tearing apart, because I also have a family, they stayed in Ukraine. It's so hard for me to see all of it. But we have to put ourselves together, we've got to be strong and remember that we are doctors and have to help these people at any costs - she said.
Now, an additional department was established at the hospital for the Canada Ukraine Surgical Aid Program.
The team consists of medics from Canada, Poland and Ukraine among others, anesthesiologists, orthopedic and vascular surgeons, and surgical specialists head and neck, craniofacial, neurosurgeons, plastic surgery and burn specialists, and pediatricians.
Doctors will be supported by Canadian nurses, pharmacists, IT specialists, and also the Polish-Ukrainian staff of the hospital in Czeladź.
The goal of the Canada-Ukraine Foundation is to provide comprehensive post-traumatic care to both civilian and military victims of the war.
