Use to travel back and forth from Canada to the US for work. There’s a mixture of interest. A colleague in Tennessee had no interest in visiting Canada to another in Kentucky who was fascinated by our crown Royal whiskey. Lol

Canadian here: I actually think Americans don’t know much about Canada and think it’s just a snowy wasteland filled with beavers and bears. Well, that’s true but where I live, spring can reach about 20 degrees Celsius while summers reach around 35 (idk how Fahrenheit works honestly). I look outside and I see no snow and trees growing nice maple leaves. Okay yea winters can get extreme tho. Sorry…

Canadian here who has been to the USA lots. The only thing SOME Americans do understand is how it is not only snow and no sun 🌞 but other then that it didn't seem as bad as the complaints from the Canadian tictokers but the American girl was being an asshole

Canada is but one country out of many. And every country will have a group of people who cant understand why Americans dont know a few things about their country, government, culture and history. with 193 UN recognized countries and people in each one thinking that way while at the same time forgetting that while youre asking Americans to think about others because the US isnt the center of the universe they simultaneously forget that 191 other countries will have people feeling the same way and most people would find it unreasonable in any country to be expected to know a brief history of every country in addition to every countries current head of state, its most important cities, industries, the different cultures within it, its political system, what it trades or buys with the US. Asking why dont Americans know more about (can insert any country name; but in this case add Canada) is kind of forgetting that over a hundred million Americans live closer to Mexico then Canada, plus Mexico not Canada is the #1 travel desitination for Americans, in fact the number of Americans who visit Mexico in a year is larger then the entire population of Canada. Yes Canada and Mexico and in general it would be nice if some Americans knew a bit more about any other countries, but American higher-education isnt trying to teach its students to be generalist but specialist. While in places like in Europe for example youll get a more rounded aka generalist education. Yet Europe with population of 746.4 million with a larger economy and the EU alone with 448 million people the US created 8 of the top 10 biggest tech companies with Europe having 0. iIn the top 100 the US created 39 of the largest while EU countries created 9 in total, partyl due to the US focusing on students becoming specialized in very niche areas while Europe doesnt as much, so yes maybe some but not all Americans wont know something about a specific country but many havent needed to worry about that in order to support themselves and family. And again every country is just as important to the people living there, so why would people from any country feel that Americans should know about their country first and foremost. Plus Canada it wasnt ill 1982 that British Parliament gave up the right to alter and change the core of what became Canadas constitution, so Canada's only fully independent for 41 years so its not like a fully and completely independents Canada has existed for that long

As an American, why should we care about Canada. It's not geo-politically significant unless they are screwing something up. Recent examples of that would Trudeau's utterly stupid press conference on India intelligence service's assassination of a Canadian citizen or inviting a literal member of the Waffen SS to their parliament. They are not a massive cultural exporter like my country, Japan or England. And honestly, given both Canadian culture and Canadians themselves are hostile to the US, maybe its better for Canada if Americans don't know more about them. Roughly 85% of Americans have a positive view of Canadians, I imagine that would go down if they knew how much they hate us.

As a Canadian, whose extended family lives exclusively in both the US and Europe, I’ve had fun experiences talking to my fam about Canada 🇨🇦 When I would talk to my cousins in California and I would complain about this, and my cousin dropped some wisdom on me. He told me not to take it personally cause in America they barely know anything about the state next to them, let alone another country. Which is kind of a sad commentary on the Department of Education, if anything, not on the “ignorance of Americans”

I'm American. Most of the young kids today in America are pretty clueless about the world around them. Just ask them.It comes from the indifference by teachers in our Public School Systems in America. Instead of teaching the kids useful things like history and geography and math and science, they teach them about people's feelings and how to be considerate of everyone.

We don't know enough about America. For ex: we call our natives 'indian' though Indians live in India. One reason I really appreciate transparency of Spanish history. Very cocky group(the requirement/ requisita), but there is very little suger coating(no pun intended due to suger cane being one of the reasons for domination, and expansion at all cost). Do you know Mathieu de Costa? The French/ indian war? King Phillips War? History, in my opinion, is much more interesting when out of school. When can fact check sourced material without indoctrination shapping social narratives through indictrination. Not only Canada's history, but main events in all countries, that share the world we live in today.. Peace

The US is like that older, hotter sister that has her flaws, yes, but her siblings really focus on her flaws like it's the only thing they see; it's bc they know she's beautiful so they try to find something wrong with her. It's jealousy bc she has the greatest influence in culture, media, people, etc. and so no one really knows or cares too much about her younger siblings. Although she's fucked up a lot, her positive qualities outweigh the negative and she lives a pretty good life bc she's followed her dreams of being IG famous lol; she's like the Kardashians except she really did things to become famous. Think about all the Hollywood celebrities who are Canadian; the influencers and athletes. Even when their careers are over they still decide to live in the US and retire; you never hear anyone say they'll retire or go on vacation in Canada lol. Canadians are just hating and looking down upon the US putting themselves on a pedestal, finding everything wrong with the US bc of their envy and insecurity that they're not a global dominant power;I understand why a lot of ppl, not only Americans, dont know a lot about Canada. Im a Canadian btw, been living in the US for a few months and it's great! I've traveled the world but the US has everything. Hoping to get my citizenship soon.
