I love this interview because it clearly shows she didn't have much say in the movie's script. Some haters like to say she hid things because the movie is different. But she never did. She put her life story into the book, the movie is someone else's version. Funny how haters avoid this video.
@Jake Phillips I saw in another interview that they wanted to portray Tina as using a lot of profanity in the movie. Angela Bassett, who potrayed Tina, asked her about it because she didn't think Tina swore. Tina confirmed it and Bassett pushed back at them and refused to do it. Hollywood, some nerve!
Her hair. Her gorgeous hair. Tina was an elegant, intelligent lady. She's from my home state of Tennessee. We love you Miss Tina Turner; rest now sweet lady ✝
Tina is a freaking hero 💕💕 She's a big inspiration.. All of the being torn down & apart mentally & physically & controlled & just bullied didn't phase her. She defended herself & that was the last time she'd put any energy into it... She continued to live her life & succeed & be the best mother she could be & found love & gave it a chance & got married again ❤❤ I just love Tina & aspire to have her strength & just self-love
I just love this woman!!! What a strong phenomenal woman… my mother and I used to watch her biopic and my mom used to make me mimic her lol rest well mom!! We love you Tina
She is a beautiful person on the inside and out and has a wonderful life with a wonderful man that loves her truly. I am so happy for her. I have a deep respect for her because no matter what life threw at her in the past, she always looked upward, knowing there would be that day of judgment and never once stopped believing, God has been with her, and helped her get to where she is today. Judgement day was a long time ago. She is a happy, healthy, beautiful, talented, loving woman and I wish her all the happiness and joy, love, most importantly love which I know she has and deserves unquestionably. LOVE is respect first and foremost. A deep understanding and adoration of anothers heart. It rules over all things. Thank you for being you!!! ♡ Always!
he may have discovered her but she earned her own right to her money name and fame she carried her self even in the group before she became a solo act..im just sayn:) she left with nothing came back with more than enough thts y she is inspiring to women!
Tina is such an insightful woman. I think she's right when she suggests people find fascination in other people's private life's... and that people probably did want to know her story more to get an idea of the dirt she had to go though... Rather than watching the story to see her triumph. Which she does... But I understand how she felt about the story being told in the movie.
Tina Turner is one classy and strong lady!!! So glad she has a good life after Ike. He sure lost the best thing that ever happen to him. Or his paycheck he lost.
Ike Turner came to the set while they were filming, what's love got to do with it and got smart with Angela Bassett, who was playing Tina Turner at the time and he lived, and then they escorted her out the room. After that happened, he came to the set quite frequently
Tina is my 2nd mom. I adored her since I was very young and being an entertainer myself I get were she stated she's looking for that right movie and so am I. People can think with the mind, but with Tina my beautifully 2nd mom, she thinks with both heart and mind and so do I.
Tina Turner is my idol and my role model 💛🤗, I loved her ever since I was a kid, and I'm 35 now, and I still listening Tina Turner she's on my MP 3 player, all of her music is on my phone too I love Tina dearly she's awesome👏✊👍 💛🤗
I hate biopics and it's terrible that they didn't ask her before deciding to do the movie. I adore Angela Bassett though! At that point Tina had already done a major interview discussing the abuse and wrote a book. The Tina documentary on HBO Max was amazing!
@@a.b.sproductionsllc Ike would have had basically complete control of their songwriting and covers. What's love would not be the type of song Ike would have recorded. Tina wasn't even a fan of it at first herself.
They made each other famous. He gave her the name Tina Turner and gave her a platform for her talent to shine. She brought the dynamic stage presence but Ike put the band and the music together. He was a talented musician.
She looks absolutely stunning here. Even though she wanted to keep her stage name which she got bc she asked for nothing in her divorce , i wonder if having the last name turner is kinda strange after all ike put her through. Also sad that ike was so abusive to Tina it overshadows that he wrote & recorded the first rock n roll song.
@@gypsygirl9 she fought to keep her stage name bc thats how people knew her. It's why most actresses keep their maiden name or a husbands name b4 they got famous.
So do I but I've had it ever since the movie, so long that it's on a cassette tape, my favorite song on it is; 🎵Stay Awhile🎶, and, 🎵Tell me why must we wait until the night🎶
That scene is not accurate. Ike didn't ask Tina to move in with him at that time. Tina got pregnant from another band member, and after he ran off and she had no place to go, she and her son moved in with Ike and his then wife.
Ike threatened Raymond Hill (Craig's father) so he left the band and ran away... It's not like Tina was needing Ike's "help", she already had a way of living, and, really, imo she would have found other band/singer to join even if she wasn't with Ike and his band :)
@@miracabral Ike did not threaten Raymond. Raymond broke his ankle wrestling with a bandmate then returned to Clarksdale. Tina had a job as a nursing aide, but that didn't pay much. She was a single mother at just 18 and had bills to pay. She was living in a garage in a dangerous part of town. She asked Ike for money. Ike helped her financially and let her move in with him. Maybe someone else would have discovered her or maybe she would have just remained a nurse with a great voice. A lot of talented people are never discovered. The fact is there wouldn't be Tina Turner without Ike Turner. Their paths crossed for a reason. They benefited from each other.
@Lady Day she wasn't hiding it. If you read the book it's in there. As she said once you sell the rights the person producing the movie has the right to do the movie the way they want it put out there.
@@ProudNutbush well it seems to me That she was angry that people talked about the abused she suffered! I personally thought she would have been a lil more (for lack of a better word) understanding of peoples curiosity..I mean the world wouldn't have known if she didn't tell It. There is absolutely NO DISRESPECT in my opinion. I personally think she shoulda shot him in the head,, then again had she done that then I woulda never have been able to see or hear her WELCOME ME TO ANOTHER EDITION OF THE THUNDER DOME🤩🤩🤩🤩
Disney is dirty for making that movie of lies. Lawrence and Angela did a great job but Disney bought the eights and sold lies. Tina Turner rebuilt her life on her terms with equal perfection. I think that’s the one thing she’s treated up she got to witness and love through working with Ike. Ike endure a lot of evil pain on his young child life which is no excuse. He was a bad person in terms of hitting Tina and doing shrugs but he was also a genius of a musician. Tina is a brilliant woman whose very strong. It’s sad they keep even at 80 asking her about Ike’s abuse rather her survival and how she built a life rather muddied around in pain. Disney didn’t see her as a human being with resilience. They needed to make a movie that dug a hole for Black men and women alike. Tina was much stronger than they portrayed. Ike wasn’t the devil they imagined either.
Wonder how much she knows how strong she is....and I wonder if she knows how many woman have been in abusive relationships who never told their story, and can identify...hence the real reason its was a hit movie.
well tina you found the word's just fine tina, you got through to me, you should keep writing I love your new book Tina's love story 8m going to read I Tina next, I'm on chapter nine, the it's the best tower I've ever seen because it reminds me of Jesus and you hanging on every word he says. a totalality... aloha.
This lady did in deed go thru hell to get to where she is and I’m thrilled for her I also hate how she was beaten, however she says she hates it’s something people always talk about she lived at and don’t want to talk about it then she should of never wrote a book and agreed to a movie she should of really put it all behind her like she claim she wants but money is what it always comes down to
🤦🤦🤦 Clearly so did he? He proposed and she felt she couldn't say no because of the person he was. What do you mean "come on"? 😅 Saying yes to an abuser in hopes of delaying further abuse warrants that said abuse?
Cant understand how tina can forgive ike for beating her for all those years , i was abused and stabbed by my ex for 2 years and i could NEVER forgive him , even if he admitted what he done to me tomorrow i still couldnt forgive .
you can ... if you allow it , he has won honey . You need to let it go . Otherwise he still has power over you . Contact me if you need. Have gone through it long time ago.
@Virginia Neil: *You don't have to forgive him! In fact, I don't think you should. Fuck forgiveness!!! He needs to pay. I'm so tired of people and forgiveness!*
@Virginia Neil. As someone has said on here, please let go and forgive. Forgiveness has nothing to do with him, it has all to do with you. It frees you whereas unforgiveness holds in a cage. See Tina Turner’s attitude here, the fact that she let go and forgave and moved on, she was able to soar. Think about it you he may have moved on, but, you are letting what he did to gave a double or multiple effect on you. He 1st time it actually happened and the subsequent times you are holding onto it. I hope you are able to forgive, let go and soar.
So AnnaMae took advantage of Ike and used him for fame... the movie was a lie she even said the rape scene and eat the cake scene never happened. She wanted to look like a victim but it wasn't true..We need to see a movie about Ike's life story
G Q shut up you absolute fool. Get yourself educated on her life story. Before making comments. She was a teenager. He abused and beat her in unimaginable ways. He would beat her before going on stage just because he could. He was a vile man. He didn’t deserve her. She is way way way above him, yes he found her but he was nothing without her. She always was great and then she became a worldwide phenomenal singer and performer and he was just a waste of fucking life. Yes he had a troubled past but it does not excuse the way he treated this beautiful, loving outstanding woman . He is A pig of a human. She deserved the happiness and success and he deserved what he got... shame he didn’t get more. Sick man ike Turner was.
@@mybiz2167 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 you sound like a man hating feminist.. you all need to stop with the idol worship. Anna Mae took advantage of an opportunity. If it wasn't for Ike she would be back in Nutbush
Actually, the cake thing did happen, just not the way it was shown in the movie. A cake ended up on the bill and Ike made her eat it even though she said she didn’t order it. The rape scene may not have happened, but he still raped her. Any time someone makes you have sex when you don’t want to, it’s rape. She had no money or control. How does someone reach the level of success she did with him, and still not have a bank account? That’s control. If you read the book, they were friends and didn’t have any interest in each other until he decided to put sex into the equation. And Tina never made herself a victim or to be naive and innocent, the public did. Ike even contributed to the book. He also gave interviews where he admitted to slapping her or punching her down to the ground without thinking. No matter how right or wrong the scenes in the film were, it’s undisputed that he put his hands on her and abused her. She didn’t leave because she understood him. They both had troubled childhoods and she promised never to leave him like other people did, because she was abandoned by her own family.
😳😳😳 For speaking her truth about abuse? Movies are dramatic reenactments. Not everything is going to be 100% accurate and she didn't direct this film. Regardless of how exact the abuse is portrayed, the abuse still happened.
