"Kids Story" - is about that boy who ends up following Neo around everywhere, in Matrix Reloaded. And who ends up piloting the fallen captain's APU at the end of Revolutions

The Second Renaissance always gives me chills. Always wished we could have seen a longer version of it. I love how shocking and gruesome it is. It really gives you perspective and makes you understand why the machines have done what they have.

The people who did flight of the Osiris, also did the films final fantasy spirits within and other FF films

To answer your question at the end, yes the transmission got through. If you remember the beginning of the 2nd film, when all the captains are meeting, they're discussing the data they sent. They mention the transmission being from the Osiris. 😀

The Final Flight of The Osiris was released at the beginning of a movie like a trailer before reloaded came out. it's meant to be a prologue of sorts. The Osiris is mentioned in reloaded as they warned the Logos of the machines coming for Zion.

I liked the Animatrix more than everything else that came after the first Matrix movie.

Fun fact: everyone involved in the making of this would go on to make some of the greatest anime shows and movies (I don't remember names) but if you compare to some of them to popular anime you'll quickly see who was involved

Animation in general is a labyrinth of wonderment to explore.... Anime in specific, even more so.

Not sure if you catch this but the Osiris has to deliver a message... a message that is delivered to Neo at the very start of Matrix Reloaded: that's what all the captains were discussing in the meeting - they mention the Osiris. The message is... the machines are about to attack Zion.

Awesome reaction, enjoyed it a lot. Glad you liked the Animatrix :) Back then when I first saw it I also really liked getting to see something else about the idea and world in general from different point of views instead of just following the same characters through the main movies. I personally really like Beyond, it's so nice 💙 and The second renessaince for its storytelling and epic battle scenes.

I'm not sure if you've ever heard of "the uncanny valley", but it's something that animators still stuggle with, and why we haven't had more than a few full-CGI movies in the style of "Osiris". I think there was a Final Fantasy movie around the early 2000s that was animated like that. Definitely do a quick Google/RU-vid search on the uncanny valley, if it's something you haven't heard of yet. 😊

I’m so glad you reacted to this, these are some great animations. Have you ever heard of the movie “A Scanner, Darkly?” It stars Keanu Reaves and basically they live action filmed an entire movie, and then an animator came in and animated over the top of it. It’s an anime but based on reality. It’s directed by Richard Linklater which if you’re as into movies as you are you probably have heard of him. It’s an interesting film and was really cutting edge for its time.

Both _Kid's Story_ and _Final Flight of the Osiris_ are canon to the movies. The Kid is the young fan of Neo in the second and third Films while the Osiris was mentioned at the start of _Reloaded._ By the way, the team who animated _Osiris_ actually made a feature length movie in 2001, called _Final Fantasy: The Spirits within,_ the first time an entire movie was made using Animation thats supposed to be photorealistic. It was a big flop at the box office, shutting the studio down and halting more attempts for the time being. Personally, I think its a cool flick and worth checking out.

The second renaissance is my favorite. I also did not get to watch all of your reaction but hoping you understand the kid that is in school is the same kid in the 2 other movies.

You reacted to and liked that one scene with the horse. You might want to check out The Adventures of Prince Achmed -- the very first feature-length animated film (in Public Domain now). It's also unique because it was done entirely with cutout paper silhouettes.

33:50 This is going to sound dumb, but when I first saw the final flight of osiris, i wasn't sure how they made the people. I knew it was CGI but it looked so... "real" - I had never seen something so skin-accurate before. Now it looks like a pretty bad video game. How far we've come.

you now they absolutely loved anime with the omega level legends they got to do this anthology.

To me, the film only has one flaw, and it's that for the little girl character that Tara Strong voiced in the Beyond segement, she straight up recycled her VERY recognizable Dil Pickles voice from Rugrats. Takes me right out of my immersion. Given her amazing range, I suspect that the fault lies with the direction she was given by the filmmakers. Because of that, I can't be mad at her over it. That, and the fact that she asked me to be her Sugar Daddy one time.

The Final Flight Of The Osirus was made by a little company that didn't last very long. A little company called Square Pictures. As in Squaresoft, the original creators of the Final Fantasy game series. They produced only three projects. Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, Final Fantasy The Spirits Within and this. This was their last ditch effort to make back some money to stay afloat after the commercial failure of The Spirits Within, but alas, they would be shut down anyway, when only months later, their parent company was merged with Enix to become Square-Enix and the first thing the new company bosses did was shut down their movie division.
