In 1994 my wife and I also rented a boat (1107) at Argens from Locaboat. Noticed a smell of fuel inside, but set off anyway. Cruised toward the Atlantic end and hardly slept the first night for the fuel smell. Returned to the yard and they "fixed" a fuel leak. Better, but still not ideal. We continued all the way west to the last lock near Bordeaux, then turned around and went east to the Med end; took 4 weeks. This was our 4th rental from Locaboat, and none were without problems. Once they accidentally hooked the fridge up to the battery instead of the gas. Naturally, this rapidly drained the battery and I woke up in the middle of the night to a few inches of water inside since the automatic bilge pump went dead. I could have sunk in the canal. Still, I like the design of their boats, look like the old big peniches and are much easier to handle than the boxy houseboat types. Of all our French cruises, I recall the Nivernais in Burgundy as the best section, have done it twice. The Midi has those awful oval locks, hard to get off and on compared to the rectangular locks everywhere else. Looking forward to watching the rest of your Midi vids.

We've done the Midi twice, from Port Cassafières to Castelnaudary, via Crown Blue Lines (now Le Boat). No problems whatsoever with the boat either time (It helps immensely to have a boat with bow thrusters to help you maneuver). The locks are actually the most fun part, especially if you're traveling with young children -- who have no trouble helping with the ropes.
Wow, not so good with the empty water tank, it looks like thugs got better though. We liked the smaller Penechette 950e boat, just booked another one in The Netherlands again for next summer.

@@milkyway3755 No videos, but we loved it. We spent a few days before boarding in Nice. After the trip, we spent a few days in London on our way back. I highly recommend the Viking trip. We will go back after the pandemic ends.
