The development application for a $500 million expansion of the Canberra Hospital is one step closer to becoming a reality, with the latest plans now open for public consultation.
The 'SPIRE' project will include a new building at the existing Woden campus with additional operating theatres, treatment rooms and intensive care beds.
Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith says the scope of the project has grown, with the latest proposal including 33 more emergency beds than earlier plans.
