Just look at the list of scorers in the 1994 Grand Final against the Bulldogs! Nagas, Meninga, Nadruku, Daley, Croker, Furner! Then you had Mullins, Wiki, Stuart, Pongia, Walters, Osborne, Clyde, Hetherington, Westley! One heck of a team! Cheers from a New Zealand "Green Machine" fan!
The Raiders of 1993-95 were a great side & should have won back-to-back or at least 2 Premierships in those 3 years. What I do appreciate is that one of the greats in Joey Johns continually states that the 1994 Raiders team was the Greatest Club side he ever played in his career.
Great to watch this A big Raiders fan since entering the comp i have forgotten how good they were and their attack second to none hopefully this year after a long time since they won the comp they have what it takes to lift the NRL Trophy
Its also funny how as soon as the Raiders win a premiership, the A.C.T. then claimed the team and took them under their wing. The very next season they moved to Bruce,A.C.T.In the beginning, they were only called Canberra raiders, because nobody knew where Queanbeyan was! They Trained in QBN,The home ground was in QBN,and the Leagues club was in Queanbeyan.Go The Green Machine!!!
@The Darkman & the Raiders would have won 3 straight Premierships 1989-91 if it wasn't for Ricky Stuart's Groin & Laurie Daley's hamstring injury in the 1991 Grand Final.
Very good recruiting to pick up quality queenslanders before brisbane was in the comp. Blended them well with some great local talent and with Bill Harrigan thier extra player won plenty of games.
They really were a great team in 1989 especially with a third of that team been the QLD Origin team that that won 3-0 and then the Raiders going into the Grand Final I honestly thought it was going to be Rabbitohs vs Tigers Grand Final but the Rabbitohs stumbled at the last hurdle, Going into that Grand Final I honestly didn't think they were going to beat the Tigers after they had been playing sudden death football and playing 3 Tough Games in the Sharks, Panthers and Rabbitohs I thought they used up all the petrol and literally were Running on Empty against the Tigers after they lost to the Bulldogs the year before and I really thought it was the Tigers Grand Final, but as they proved through out the year they were able to Grind it out with the Steve Jackson Tries, the mistake was bringing Blocker Roach off early after that it was the Raiders Grand Final. The First Premiership is always the Special one. For me that was 1992 with the Broncos. After they Failed in 1989,1990 to see Wally Lewis go out on lossing note was sad and then just missing out in 1991.
