You could have told Mr. Rogers there was no bed in the room, and I don't think he'd get mad. He'd be like "Well this chair looks lovely and quite comfortable, I should be fine with that."

netbuckeye 2.1 Fred Rogers was one of the few people in television who acted just as they are in real life. He was really a kind, soft spoken, gentle human being, as this clip shows, and as those who knew him have related. He was genuine, and his tv persona was not him acting as a different person. We need more like him, especially in children’s television. My favorite story was when his car was stolen. No one knows who did it, but when the news of the theft was in the news, the person who stole the car, returned it undamaged to the exact spot where it was stolen. To this day, no one knows who stole the car, but I guess that as a young child, Mr. Rogers show must have had a positive impact.

TheSacko You are correct. He’s a much better embodiment of how a Christian should live, and love, than almost all televangelists. (For those who don’t know, Fred Rogers was an ordained minister - I believe, Presbyterian). And his on screen persona was not an act - that was how he was in real life.

I cried watching this and didnt expect to at all. Mr. Rogers is one of those pure souls, one of the few that expressed and emanated true unblocked love. When you see, hear, or come in contact with those people you cannot help but cry. They see passed the egoistic restrictions we all have on us and light the hearts of our inner child. Hearing him is like getting a warm hug from a loved one in a hard time.

@johncronin9540
@johncronin9540 5 лет назад
pem1974 Well, many celebrities act VERY differently when they don’t have a camera in front of them. (A camera that they know is recording them). Many actors were very different persons when they were not performing. But Fred Rogers was genuine. The way he was when doing his show was how he was in real life. Kind, generous, gentle, polite, loving (in the best sense of that word). We often bemoan the loss of civility in our discourse. Fred Rogers embodied that civility. Many of us grew up with him teaching us, and as adults, we can still learn a lot from Mr. Rogers. I don’t think Peter Funt expected Fred Rogers to show up at this hotel. They had obviously set this room up to do their bit with the television, and Funt told Fred Rogers that he would be staying in a different room. Obviously, they were planning on trying this bit out with other guests.
@krism8335
@krism8335 4 года назад
@@johncronin9540 they did try this bit out with several guests in fact and every one of those guests got at least mildly annoyed and asked to be moved to a different room or the tv to be replaced Mr Rogers was indeed the only person to not get upset at the news of not having a tv in the room. Candid Camera also didn't know that Mr Rogers was going to be staying there but did decide to include him just to see what would happen

I love everything about Mr. Rogers. I remember growing up watching his show in the 90s. He was kind, loving, patient, and an excellent teacher - everything you'd want in a grandfather.
