Played this in concert on my 20th birthday last year for CBDNA midwest conference. I nailed that last note, a high concert C (on trumpet). We held the last note out for a lot longer too. Best day of my life. Brings me to tears every time I hear it.
I was apart of the nc eastern all district band the past two days and we performed a ton of pieces. Among them we played the 1st, 3rd, and 5th movements of this piece. I had never heard this piece before and as we rehersed it I really liked it. But when we performed it, it was truly amazing. Specifically the 5th movement was absolutely wonderful. We dedicated the 5th movement to people who were impacted by hurricane Florence, and thankfully where I live it wasn't bad, but seeing places like Wilmington and counties on the coast in pictures was heart breaking. Performing this piece ment so much to us, and it was truly something amazing. The english horn soloist in particular was incredible. I'll never forget this piece and what it felt like to be apart of that band. If by chance anyone from that band in 2019 is reading this, it was an honor making music with you. Thank you.
I heard this at my school's wind ensemble concert. I heard this wishing I had made it to wind ensemble. This is the best piece of music I ever heard since I heard the Houston symphony play 1812 overture. Just so very beautiful.
7:57 The theme titled "Make Our Garden Grow" have some notes very similar to the begin of the "Luke and Leia Theme" from "The Return of Jedi", Episode VI, Star Wars, by John Williams.
