सबसे पहले यह एक वेबसाइट पर प्रदर्शित हुआ, फिर फेसबुक पर आया और फिर मोबाइल पर, जहां यह लोकप्रिय हुआ और अब तक इसे 5 अरब बार डाउनलोड किया जा चुका है।

कैंडी क्रश के महाप्रबंधक टॉड ग्रीन ने कहा कि गेम को और अधिक संतोषजनक बनाने के लिए लगातार अपडेट किया जाता रहा है, जिसमें कैंडीज के ग्रिड में गिरने पर होने वाली छोटी उछाल को अनुकूलित करने से लेकर 15,000 माइलस्टोन सहित नए स्तर जोड़ना शामिल है।
