Cannibus was hands down one of my favorite mcs that blessed the mic! From his vocabulary to lyricism, to wordplay was unmatched! Shouts to Math for this! 2000bc still one of my favorites 💯💯
Another fact is..... Canibus is the only reason why were celebrate Biggie's death date more than his birthday. We don't do that for NO OTHER entertainer.
1997-2001 Canibus was the illest MC on Earth.. 4 years can change the world. Jimmy Hendricks, Tupac, Nirvana, etc, had 4 year runs. Canibus definitely influenced a whole era of lyricists, especially in the underground. Salute.
All the way up until 03 you could make an argument he was the best. Rip the Jacker is a classic, and in 2002 he dropped mic club which is incredible lyricism.
MAAANNNNNNNN... Now this was a SURPRISE!!!!! CAN-I-BUS is one of the GREATEST to ever pick up a mic!!! This dude was the MAN back in 97-2000... Nobody was fu*kin with CANIBUS. THANK YOU MATH and your TEAM for this!!! I'm GLUED!!
Fu&k all y’all non believers I roll wit god, the squad and T.S. Out wit the bs we platinum they even doubted Jesus!! I’ll pick that dude over canibus 😉
@@bruceleeds7988 his first album was not released through the fugees it was released through Universal records as his second album which is even better #2000BC
Canibus was one of the first underground rappers at that time to crack mainstream with a gold debut album. Just one of a kind and was ahead of his time.
For those that may not have listened to Canibus in a while.. listen to his most recent album! He’s still lyrically incredible. Been phenomenal for over 20+ years and is a successful businessman outside of music. 🔥🔥🔥
@@carlosbaker7825 I strongly disagree. It's actually better than his older stuff. His older stuff is great, but mostly punchline, battle rhyme stuff. As he matured, so did his palette. Today, his writing is way more refined, touching on much deeper topics, with an even larger vocabulary.
Finally! 🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤 Canibus is one of the most enigmatic rappers that's ever lived! In his prime he was untouchable! Second Round KO is one of the best diss records ever!
Yo Canibus. Hope you're well bro. Your new Ice Cream Cone Album is next level. Thanks for the ongoing inspiration. A poet's poet. God bless. And shout out to Math and the crew for bringing Canibus on. Blessings all around.
Rip the jacker is still one of thee hardest hip hop albums ever. Like, reading what this man wrote in those lyrics combined with wordplay and flow was peak. Not too mention phenomenal beat production.
Canibus needs to work with more producers man, he wrote that album to a metronome click track then Stoupe built around the vocals. I think THAT is the winning strategy for Bis
In my Top10 albums 👐⬇️... Especially knowing he recorded the lyrics separate from Stoupe. Being in the dark with the albums final cut and being able to trust Stoupe with production/mixing/mastering was an amazing show of faith... Poet Laureate II stands alone for it's masterful brilliance in creativity, imagination and lyrical content... Can-I forever in my Top5
Canibus said Cella Dwellas, one of the first acts ever signed to Loud Records. UG and Phantasm aka the Tall Man representing Brooklyn (Flatbush & Canarsie). They were ill on the mic and I've been to couple of showcases back in the 1990s and saw them get busy. Salute to Canibus for shouting those brothers out.
Canibus is a cool azz dude. When me and my crew was doing music back in the day we had a show in Miami at the same club as him. He invited us in the VIP with him, was giving us drinks and we smoked blunts together. It was a night I'll never forget. 💯🙌🏾
I can picture that handshake vividly. "When intimidated, intimidate!" LL was playing the long game with Canibus not knowing he was just happy to be there.
This is why as a young creative, I came into the South African Tv industry not trusting my elders. This situation in South African inluenced alota kids. We saw the "L's" of the game throgh Todd. THATS his Legacy for some of us.
Math, thank you for having him on your show! Let's never forget how Canibus had every person who wanted to be a lyricist losing their minds at some point. Always in my top 5! Can-I-Bus! 🔥
I couldn't believe what I was hearing 1st time, my sister called me over to come listen to that song when she got the album, was a lyrical Renaissance for me.
Canibus has dropped so many bars over the years (I'm pretty sure he's 20+ albums deep) but the track that still stands out most for me is master thesis. If you know, you know.👍
Dope Math finally got the man himself on here. I still listen to Bis to this day, and it's great to hear him speak on topics. Been following him since his debut. I remember the first time hearing him was in middle school sitting in a room with other dudes that rhyme hearing that Clue Freestyle, "Speak at Frequencies." That changed everything for me about how I viewed lyricism and wanting to rhyme myself. Bis inspired a generation. Peace, love, and Hip Hop.
I love how bis took it all in. He was there 100% in the moment in every moment so when he recalls it, it’s like you’re right next to him experiencing it, the sights and details. It also adds an unique and important dimension to his songs. I feel fortunate to have his catalog and these interviews as a sort of like hip hop archive.
Greatest lyricist Hip-Hop has ever seen. Guy wrote so many rhymes in an advanced fashion. It wasn't all about multis, similes, metaphors and punchlines. Bis' transitions and parallelism is out of the universe.
@Bobby Flynn outside of east coast in the south lyrically talent you have currency chy hi the prince, Midwest people sleep on big Sean & bump j far as an lyrical talent and west coast crooked I, black spook, super natural
I had no idea this man was about to be on My Expert Opinion. I got notifications turned on, nothing notified me that this happened last night, I wish I was here when you're uploaded this, thank you so much for getting Canibus on this show. This is the platform I wanted him to be on for so long, somewhere where he could speak his mind and I knew the interviewers were really interested in the story and the lore and the details. I was leaving tweets and Instagram messages, in the DMs of everybody that I could think of, this is what I wanted, I cannot wait for the long form version of this interview. I kind of don't want to watch these clips just yet but I can't contain myself, I'm going to watch all of them and then watch the entire episode, thank you Math, thank you! This man changed my life when I was in high school, changed the way I saw a rap, changed the way I loved hip hop, this is big, if nobody else says this, I appreciate you and everyone involved for getting this interview to happen, thank you so much. I've been following Bis since 97 when he was Canibus Da Bug Dealer... That was his name on the how we roll white label tape. Since he was on the Lost boyz remix to music makes me high all the way up until now with him and his CanINFT project, there's been ups and downs but I've never stopped rocking with this man, I appreciate this. That's all I'ma say. This is the only interview I ever wanted to happen on this show, so glad to see it has manifested. 🙏🏾
These youngins would never know about,This man and his lyrics. This man was clearly before his time me being from Boston and hearing him in the late 90s. Early 2000, like he was eaten and cleaning plates. They did not want that man to destroy the industry. And I mean lyrically, he had bars 4 forever to me. And I'm a woman That vouch for this man, Good to see he's healthy and still spitting knowledge.❤🫡🫡🫡🫶🏾🫶🏾💯💯🙏🏽✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🕶🕶🕶🕶
Canibus is one of those dudes that seems like he gets sidetrack in his own thoughts and talks too much but then he brings it right back to the original question, love this guy :D Been a big fan for a long time
I just laughed so hard I caught a migraine canibus ask Math to stand up this Ninja Math stood up and did his best LL cool J impersonation that shit was beyond hilarious
Shout out to Math and the Hoffa Gang for putting Canibus in this jawn! Canibus is STILL 1 of my favorite rappers til today. I know this is going to be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yo Math, real deal, this is my favorite emcee bro since the early 90s era bro! Thank you for this and giving him your platform to speak his truths. Please mos def bring him back man!! ♾️ #Canibus ♾️
Canibus rhyme wise is up there with Black Thought as far as lyricism goes. Not too many people are in the same category the way he put rhymes together.
My nigga Canibus…dude is the epitome of if an alien came to earth and learned and mimicked Hip Hop. Bro rapped like he had a computer chip inserted in his brain. He really spit like he was out of this world. He's definitely part of my high school music memories.
Wow, Math really did it! All these years Canibus has been blackballed and Math of all people is the one to give his platform to one of the greatest MC's to touch a 🎤. Just was bumping Mic Club in the wheels! Can't wait until the full interview drops. I'm clicking asap!!! 1 of my favorite rappers, EVER! Shotout to Math for not playing politics and putting on for real Hip Hop!!!
