I actually stumbled upon Canik while shopping for a Desert Eagle. After reading horror stories about how to hold it without jamming, which ammo to run through it without jamming, etc. I decided to get one of these. Picking it up this week. Won't cost an arm and a leg to run a boat load of ammo through it too.
Holding my breath on mine. Recently purchased the Darkside edition. After only 500 rounds through it, I was taking it out of the box one day and the slide stop FELL OFF of the right side. Currently shipped to the warehouse in Vermont for repair / replacement. Crossing my fingers, but this shook my confidence in this firearm a tad, I must admit.
Yes, I have 3 plasic pistols; Glock 19, CZ P10F, Canik Rival Trophy. My wifes Rival Trophy (she claimed it as hers) is my favorite poly to shoot by far. Finally found & bought the new Rival S, it's even better than the OG Rival, it's amazing!
After watching 50+ videos on youtube about rival and rival S, your video helped me decide. Going for the steel. And you got your self a new follower. Keep up the good work.
Great thorough review especially with the weigh portion . I have been struggling to confirm that the Rival-S will make weight for IDPA SSP division which your video does.
Funny how we left metal frames behind, then tried to make polymer guns shoot like old school hammer fired metal framed guns, now we’re returning to metal frames with the caniks, Walter q5, s&w, and sig p320 axg. What’s old is new again.
Regarding the holster, if you take sand paper and round off the edges on the inside of the holster that clamp on to the trigger guard, the gun will no longer hang up upon drawing. The retention adjustment screw will then function as it should.
@@S1deshowRob I have P99 and tried PDP and Q5 once, I thought they have the best trigger I ever tried. When I shoppe around looking for a Q5 and the shop said they won’t have Walther around for quite a while then asked me if I want to try Canik instead? At first I look at him like unbelievable… no gun gonna replace Walther in term of trigger feeling for me. Then I pulled the Rival trigger and it blew my mind and I placed order for Rival right away. Still waiting for the gun to import into my country.
Lots of good points made. Wworth mentioning. I only wished you commented on the mag well becaue another YTer said his mag well would feel like it's coming off the frame. Not sure if it was because he has XL sized hands or if it was the build quality. He did say if we didn't have "big handa" it wouldn't b a problem....not sure if he mant if we had DL gove sized hands or L? I Have "size L glove hands".... Curous to know if there are brass mag well's available for the Rival S/Darkside and Elite Combat/Exec....I'd be inclined to swap out the magwell attachment anyway...eventually...to put some weight on the grip. Everyone's been happy with CANIK....proves you don't need to spend a lot to get a quality gun (comes with somany extras the bigger name gun makers do not....HK makes you ask for your dessired RDS plate....most don't come with "tool kits".... Sub'd.
I got the lipseys trophy edition just before the new metal frame came out and I want it so bad so I guess I'm gonna have 2 canik rival sfx guns now soon.
Got the Rival last Sunday and getting the Rival S next week, can't wait to shoot them, that was the best intro I have seen yet, been waiting for a nice head to head video of these too gun's, thank you.
It's a great gun, would love to buy it in my country, Austria. But it's super hard to find here and if you find it, the price is way too high, around 1700 USD.
I bought the black one today because I couldn’t find the S anywhere local. Didn’t want to wait on ordering . Will get it later. But would love to see a Vs bud between the walther and rival. Nice vids btw.
I've used the Rival for 9 months now and love it. I've been trying to buy a Rival S Chrome since it first came out but I can't get one through my supplier?
My rival s broke within 200 rounds. Mag catch (the part that actually holds the mag) broke. Like clean off. Mags were falling out every shot. Finally got the replacement part (over a month wait). I’m now scared to run it hard. Like it’ll happen again. Have you heard anything?
You probably just got a bad one. I have 3 Caniks including the Darkside-S. They are rugged and every bit as reliable as my Glock. Sometimes they can be touchy until broken in, but after 200 rounds you are good to go. I'd contact Canik or Century Arms, I'm sure they will take care of you.
@@ak471911able My wife actually DOES cycle thu ALL here purses and shoes. But then she does not tell me what i can or cannot buy because its MY $$$$ and i spend it as i choose. LET a woman tell me how to spend my $$ .... LOL .... That will NEVER be the day
Don't tell her, or do what I did right after I bought an AR, witch she was not HAPPY about, but I got my way, a week later I told her I was just getting a cheaper pistol witch she was REALLY NOT HAPPY about, but I got my way, never told her how much the Rival cost, just wait till she finds out I'm getting the Rival S next week, I'll be in the Dog House for sure, so worth it!!.
