I just replaced the trigger on mine with a Freedom Smith trigger. I did it myself and wow what a difference. My son said it makes the old trigger feel like a toy.
Btw guys, I also tried a 13lbs Glock recoil spring and guide rod with a Glock gen 4 adaptor. I ran hand loads from well below recommended powder charge to well above and didn’t notice any reduction in muzzle flip over the factory recoil spring so I went back to the factory setup. Just thought I would share that in case you were considering trying that.
Would love to see you guys or anyone stipple the Canik TP9 Elite Combat pistol. You guys killed this one here. Love Canik pistols hope to see more work on more of them
I’ve seen many videos of this pistol because I was thinking about purchasing one. I love your mods I can see definite improvements when you were firing down range and I’d love for you to tweak mine after I purchase one please! Awesome vid
Averi Morrow - Unfortunately we are not about to work on customer firearms right now. Planning and zoning denied our approval to open a business at our current location. We are looking for a shop now but it may not open for business for another year. Contact me through our website and I can help you find a shop that can do the same work we did.
Just a suggestion but when you gauge your trigger weight try to immobilize the gun to reduce or eliminate and human error. You may find that the trigger is lighter than you think because you are over pulling it while trying to hold it static in the air.
if you got a 1 LB reduction on the trigger after cleaning and replacing the firing pin plunger block spring, why did you also replace the Firing pin spring. What did that change do for it? Thank You great video.
ostbob - I just wanted to see what effect a light firing pin spring would have on it. I had heard that people were getting some light primer strikes. However I never had an issue with the factory firing pin spring.
I changed the recoil to the Yellow sprinco, 29 lb Newton striker spring and the cajun reduced power safety plunger spring and the slide won't stay back after the last round is fired. It will stay back on an empty magazine. I changed it back to the OEM recoil and it does the same thing. Do you know if the striker firing pin spring would have anything to do with the slide not cycling back far enough to catch the slide stop? Shooting 115 grain. Does it with all my mags. Does the striker pin spring have anything to do with it, I still have the 29 newton on it. Great video and great work on your gun
Sorry bud just seen your note, try switching back to the original striker spring and see if it continues. I wouldn’t think that would cause the issue but worth being sure. Sounds more like a slide release issue. Is it possibly you hand is riding in the slide release on your last round?
@@tacticaltuner4217 I apologize and I would have bet my life it wasn't me riding the slide release after shooting it for over a year without any problems, but it was. Thanks for your help
Slide off push gently up on slide stop to de-arch the spring some; it will stop the slide then; if you go to far you will have to disassemble and pull the spring to re-arch so be careful...
Nice video and links. I did the plunger spring and it's definitely lighter. Waiting til I sight the Vortex Venom in to decide on the Striker spring. Thanks
Ed Hlavaty - thanks Ed, I’m glad it worked out for you and thanks for watching. As far as the striker spring I wouldn’t worry about it unless you having issues with light strikes. Polish your plunger and trigger bar and you should be good to go! Thanks again Bud!
TacticalTuner I will. It shipped today. I sighted the Vortex in and was shooting 1/2" groups easily at 15 yards. Polished the parts as well. Gun is more capable than the shooter. Lol
TacticalTuner I just got my Wolffe striker spring and changed it. The plunger spring and the polishing helped but the Striker spring made the noticeable difference. I didn't scale it but you notice the difference. Maybe 1/4-1/3 less pressure needed in the reset
If i was gonna stipple my Canick myself how would i do it with the blackstrap still on the gun? How did y’all do it? Just leave it on and just blend it in with stippling? Thanks in advanced.
David Niquette - unfortunately I have Spence sold the pistol. All you need to do is take a small file and file down the edge the trigger safely right were it contacts the frame. Don’t take to much off or the safety will not work. Take just enough off to stop it from hanging up. Hope this helps.
How did you remove the material of the frame so it fits your hand better. I just got mine and with the small backtrap it just does not fit my hand well😢😢 . With the correct alignment of grabbing pistol so it runs parallel to my arm my trigger finger rubs on the lower patr of trigger guard. I need to lengthen my trigger finger. LOL... Good job yours looks great.
Richardd Harper - really you have to be willing to stipple your grip. You start by using a Dremel tool to shape the grip to fit your hand better. Then you cover the dremeled area by stippling over it. I learned how to broader stipple and a grip just by watching your tube video of people showing how to do it. Then started practicing on some plastic spoons. It is nerve racking but easier than you would think.
@@tacticaltuner4217 When doing the stippling how did you blend the gap between the frame and removable backstrap? I don't really see any discernable gap on the finished product.
@@paWOLFck Just stipple right over the gap. the iron will melt the sides together and the gap will disappear, you will not be able to change the back strap after that though.
There a number of aftermarket Glock spring in various weights. Be careful about using a weight that is too low. You will experience reset problems, and those may not appear in dry firing.
Just curious. But isn't the trigger for the SFX about 3.5lbs out of the box? You said the plunger spring dropped your pull weight a pound. Not criticizing honestly curious about it because I'm considering doing a similar modification to mine.
Jonathan Gutierrez - they advertise 3.5-4 lbs however when I got mine it was 4.5 - 4.75. From what I have seen most people are getting them between 4 & 4.5. There may be some that come at 3.5 but I wasn’t that lucky. Good question though bud thanks!
I really appreciate the feedback! So I went ahead with the swap in the spring and wow it made a difference!! But one more question if you don't mind. I noticed the glock spring I replaced it with was about half the size length wise and also seemed thinner. Is that what I should've expected? Just making sure I ordered the correct spring lol
He said it was a lightened Glock plunger spring . . . Hold on . . . I'll get a link. This will work and you can buy a packet of these for very short money. ghostinc.com/reduced-power-firing-pin-safety-plunger-spring-for-glocks-gen-1-5-and-42-43/
Tou Chang - that didn’t improve the trigger weight it just help with the trigger/safety timing. After the trigger job was done the trigger safety would hang up so I put just a Bit of an angle on the safety so that the safety would disengage a second sooner.
Thanks you. I recently purchased a Canik SFX and I have to say its the best sub $500 gun I've seen. I love it and think it is worthy of a few upgrades. I saw a plunger spring on another site then I saw this video and I always try to go with something I can see guys are actually using so I know they work and not causing failures. I really like your Canik. Thanks for sharing. I think Im becoming a Canik Fanatic:-)
Bonnie Dingman - I can not do the work until I am licensed to do to ITAR regulation however if you would like, contact me through our website and I my be a able to help you find a shop that can do the same work.
The threaded barrel is now at $185.00 and has been out of stock for a very long time. Im looking for a compisater for this gun if anyone has a lock on where to get one please let me know.
Ya the striker spring replacement really didn’t do anything. On Glocks it can help lighten the trigger but didn’t in the Canik. The lightened plunger did drop the trigger weight thought.
avigares - the advertised pull weight is 3.5 - 4 lbs. mine was 4 lbs when I got it. Most competition guns will have 2-3 lbs triggers like the CZ Checkmate. For 5 bucks I changed one spring and went from a 4lbs to 3 lbs tigger. I did it to make a more effective competition gun. I think a one lbs drop worth $5 bucks. Thanks man!
Yusuf ÇETİN - I agree steel CZ style guns are great, I also own a CZ TSO and CZ Shadow 2...great guns however polymer guns are very proven guns much like the Glocks and HKs. More polymer guns are striker fire which I find are easier to modify, improve customize over the all steel pistols.
Tou Chang - You would want to look for a local gun store or gunsmith the does cerakote and have them cerakote the lower in Tungsten. Usually cost $50 to $100. Hope this helps.
