Indirect restorations, such as crowns, are suggested to reinforce and restore damaged tooth structure. Lithium disilicate and zirconia are two of the most often used materials for All-ceramic crowns because they combine good aesthetics with very desirable mechanical qualities. In this video, Dr. Richard Stevenson demonstrates about Canine All-Ceramic Crown Prep Acadental #22, Utilizing T-Prep Technique .

I like to add this , after reading other's comments ! As I can see, students are full of gratitude for your lessons that , try to make sure that it's helpful to them instead of doing it for those who already have been practicing and know something. It's difficult for beginners to catch up if it is hi fi and making a presentation of your skills or efficiency. So that way your videos are very relevant and thoughtful .

Dr Stevenson, your videos are a great help and as a dental student I use a lot of your tricks and steps and it helps me a lot in the simulation lab and clinics. I do have a request that a lot of my classmates including myself are struggling with, would you be able to show us how to make the finish line very smooth as in the videos it seems that this part is edited..if you can give some insights on how to approach that step along with how to do it in the patient's mouth while avoiding to trauma to the pulp because of the slow speed and heat generation that would be a great help. Thanks again for all the help..

Take a look at other videos and you'll see more unedited details. I've been trying to keep the vids short, but will definitely produce some minimally edited detailed work for the subs. Thank you for your thoughtful request!

You are my favorite virtual teacher.I have 2 questions- 1.how do you measure interproximal reduction? 2.I feel hesitant to use 1 mm bur for interproximal clearance what alternative can I use pls.
@StevensonDentalSolutions
@StevensonDentalSolutions 3 года назад
Interproximal reduction is measured by the following". 3-5 degrees of axial wall taper and 1.0 mm shoulder (better termed "fillet") depth. Use the 7878L-012 or even the needle bur 859-010 or 850-012 to break through the proximal and then move to a larger diamond. Best to you!

Great vedio!! I still don't understand how you got such shoulder using KS0. Don't we( beginners) run the risk of producing a J margin very easily?
@StevensonDentalSolutions
@StevensonDentalSolutions 4 года назад
Yes, this is possible - so for now, use an end cutting bur like a 8839-010 to remove the J. Eventually you'll be able to run the bur inward and outward while cutting the finish line and remove the Js simultaneously. Thank you!

Do you find that doing the interproximals like you did here (dropping it incisal/gingivaly), can often make the finish line wider than intended? Does it work the same with a chamfer? thanks!
@StevensonDentalSolutions
@StevensonDentalSolutions 5 лет назад
Onlay if you position the diamond too far axially - if you leave a thin shell, you usually end up underprepared axially, giving you room to finish.

Thank for another great video. When you need the margin 0.5mm subgingival how do you prepare the buccal margin without nicking the gingivae?
@StevensonDentalSolutions
@StevensonDentalSolutions 3 года назад
Place 3-0 silk suture in the sulcus for minimal gentle retraction and safety. The 10-839.010 is a tissue-protective end diamond which is also very helpful. Thank you for the great question!

Is it advisable to do interproximals like you did here, on posterior molar?
@StevensonDentalSolutions
@StevensonDentalSolutions 5 лет назад
Yes I would prep the teeth similarly, with the exception of less occlusal clearance for zirconia.
@ReanimatedShad0w
@ReanimatedShad0w 5 лет назад
Alright ill try doing the margins on posterior teeth the same way. What slows me down the most is the inter proximal reductions.@@StevensonDentalSolutions

@StevensonDentalSolutions
@StevensonDentalSolutions 5 лет назад
Yes - this is a surprisingly challenging fixed dental prosthesis - #9 and #11 have different draws, so the FDP forces you to prepare the individual teeth differently than if they were single units. You can always see the FDP video on my website...there is a small fee for this but it's really a good tutoria
