10th day for me. Luckily I am blessed with a loving supportive family. I was a heavy user for 20 years, I quit because I finally grew up. finally realized I was living a life that wasn't real. Quit to see how improvements in my physically training and sports will be. the first several days were brutal, insomnia, migraines , nausea and really pissed off. These days I'm feeling much better, thinking clearly and my workouts are actually much improved. The DREAMS are unreal. getting better sleep and my energy is through the roof. Mentally its a long road, but i feel unstoppable and much more confident in who I am. My family notices the difference and that's the important thing to me!! Stay the course, you can do it. Videos like these help me out so much! Aloha from Hawaii!!!!
Thank you!! Im glad u feels better. I got realky chunky and i lost 5 pounds after a slowed down its crazy I thought i needed to eat that much but it was all just muchies.
@@shannoncat1984 update! I'm doing so much better! My fitness has greatly benefited from not smoking everyday. Been running 3x a week and strength training much improved. Finding the natural dopamine hit was one of the hardest transitions for me, exercise has been the saving grace. my focus and family life is awesome. I don't feel anxious anymore, so many good things. good luck to you, and to all of you who want to change your life and break an addiction.
Several "Oh crap" moments for me while watching this. Thank you, Doug and Dr. Hurd. I have pickled my body with THC (every form) for the past 15 years. I am a 46F (never used pot as a kid) and I am so over this addiction! I hate it! I quit cold turkey several years ago, had horrible mental side effects, insomnia, chills, etc for SEVERAL MONTHS. I tested hot 4 months after quitting, got all discouraged and went right back to the THC. Now, for the past 4 weeks, I am using CBD (0% THC) wax & CBD flower mixed with measured out THC flower and SLOWLY tapering off THC. I want to be quit so bad and I will! So far the tapering is helping HUGELY. Still having some discomfort mentally but one day at a time!
Very shortly after watching this video, I smoked a few CBD flower joints for appx 4 weeks off and on whenever I had cravings or was hanging with friends who smoked. AFTER 4 weeks I just lost motivation to smoke CBD, lost motivation for a lot of things. I am now 60 days quit. My official quit date was March 28th. That is when I quit THC flower, edibles, dabbing and vaping. Depression has been very bad. Zero energy. Insomnia and nightmares every night. I don't have cravings because I feel so gross. I know it is from 15+ years of heavy abuse. I choose each day to fight knowing someday I will feel normal again. I am very anti THC nowadays. Hardest 'drug' I've ever quit.
@@Skadiddlydooshor are the side effects from 15yrs of suppressing unresolved issues 🤔 Been using for 30 years on and off. Never had an issue with stopping. Life is just better with it when used responsibly in conjunction with an active healthy life imo. Calming, great sleep, helps with insights. Most ppl who have issues coming off it, already have unresolved issues. It's just a projection of these. Whatever. Each to there own. Best of luck to yw.
This is some real talk. I would encourage open discussion about cannabis and other drugs. My parents never had any talk at all with me and just tolerated my smoking pot from Jr High into college and beyond. I agree that the potency today is worlds stronger than the 90s. That’s one reason I quit in my mid 40s. It wasn’t even fun anymore. I totally grew out of it when I got sick of the other 40 somethings who were going nowhere in life. Mediocrity at its finest. But how they love their pot and defend their right to smoke. It’s a mentality that can be nipped in the bud (no pun intended) when a parent or guardian fosters an open environment where a kid (and friends) are comfortable talking about their experiences outside the home and they are able to have discussions that allow young people to come to healthy and beneficial conclusions on their own.
I smoked weed everyday for years and as I got older it started giving me panic attacks and depersonalization I haven't watched it yet but I just thought I'd make that comment
My 19 year old son suffered a marijuana induced psychosis. It took 3 months of taking anti-psychotics to get him back. But it triggered bi-polar and now he regularly has BP mania and at times psychosis even while taking BP medicine. Please do not use marijuana! You don’t know how your body will react to the THC. Our family is devastated because my son has never been the same since this happened.
@@Spartan-Of-Truth why would someone lie about something like that. Weed creates an intense high, you don’t believe it’s possible that some peoples brains don’t agree with it? Some people can’t eat peanuts ffs.
The perception that it cures anxiety is a very real issue. The symptoms of those heavy users are very similar to mental illness from GAD to schizophrenia. Thank you for sharing 💚
I worry about the legalization of cannabis and the effect on young people since the bain doesn’t stop developing until age 25. I started smoking at age 14 and didn’t really stop until age 60- last year (with gaps in between). I was born in 1962 and believed the false notion that it was only psychologically addictive! Wrong. Thankfully we raised a wonderful daughter in spite of my (“controlled”) use when she was small. I was lucky to be mostly a stay at home mom (we didn’t have smart phones then) and totally dedicated my life to her- I love being a mom. I stopped drinking 10 years ago, but then relapsed with pot during covid. It was a nightmare withdrawing from it! I was really shocked. So grateful to be sober, thanks to 12 step programs!
I lived w a chronic longterm cannabis user. He smoked a joint evert hr or 2 round the clock, and over 3 yrs he developed COPD, heart issues, and Hyperemis (frequent vomiting after use) I haven't smoked since Mt early 20's and am So Happy I gave it up! Oh, he also lost 7 jobs in less than 3 yrs😮
Been consuming marijuana since July 4 2016 but went on a binge from December of that year on n off from 2022. I was 17 when i started, 24 when i stopped. I’ve been consuming delta 9 as of late but rarely. I’m so happy i am stopping. I got psychosis multiple times and that was enough for me to fight to quit.
THIS!!! She (marijuana) always tells you where you are at, you are suppose to adjust your mindset when you become aware of the stress within. If you are not aware of this you will suffer the anxiety.
It's cannabis. I'm retired, zero stress of any kind. Only mild daily stuff that everyone has. Cannabis put me in an anxious and depressed state after daily use for just nine months.
its different for everyone. Ive smoked weed for 35 years. I am in a 16 year relationship, I have owned a successful restaurant for 20 years. I am trying to retire early. Weed has helped me to manage stress, mood and sleep. I dont drink or do drugs. Alcohol is the worst. I switched to edibles in the last few years so I could eliminate the health risks of smoking. Its not all bad for every person like youre saying. Snoop dog seems to have done alright for himself and so have I. As far as the kids , Im not advocating it for them. They need to be focused and creating their futures. This did not appear to be a kids show. This is an adult talk about it.
I have to take edibles to keep my rage in a cage. I can't hurt my kids the same way my dad hurt me. When they are old enough to talk to and understand me, then I will quit. But for now it keeps Mr. Hyde asleep.
THC interferes with REM sleep, big time. Quit for a while and see for yourself. I used to think I was well rested because I would fall asleep fast and sleep like a log through the night. After quitting, it was amazing how, after getting used to dreaming again, my energy levels skyrocketed on fewer hours of ACTUAL sleep than more hours of cannabis coma sleep.
Getting drunk or high is not only the cure to your stress, it's also the cause of your stress. It also seems to make people think their anecdotes trump scientific evidence.
Weed is a drug of all trades. It can produce a very wide variety of different effects, and can be used/abused in a variety of different ways. I personally think that one's choice of how they use it determines how beneficial it is/what effects it causes. For me, I use it in a primarily entheogenic way. Most people however aren't interested in using any substance as a tool for self-reflection, & just want their bad symptoms to go away instead of directly confronting them. Weed and psychedelics go hand-in-hand for this reason, in my opinion.
Led vs hps/mh. Led gives a more pointed high because it's lacking compared to a full spectrum light such as high pressure sodium or metal halide. This is all a cash grab from what I'm gathering. The sun is the best at growing. It provides a medicinal product that's balanced and won't make you lose your mind.
It's not marijuana. It is industrial hemp. THCA does not get you high like THC does - it gets you a 'buzz' but it is not the same. If you don't believe me do this: put some hemp buds on a cookie sheet. Cover with foil. Bake at 290f for 7 minutes. Smoke it. Flavor is reduced but you actually get high and don't get a headache. Smoke the THCA bud without baking and the carboxyl groups become smog which quickly gives a headache especially if smoked fast and hard.
Cannabis helps me. I love it but only do edibles - of the strong kind. Usually at least 500mg of THC per serving. I don't get anxiety from it. If anything its actually helped me manage myself and my emotions. Sure its not for everyone. The dose is important too. Lets not throw out the baby with the bathwater.
It doesn't make you anxious while you're high but between the times when you are actively intoxicated. Thats when it decreases your ability to deal with those feelings - during the in-between times.
LOL, I don't believe you at all. The standard dose for edibles is 10mg per serving. You telling me you eat 50 cookies or chocolates at a time? Complete BS liar.
😂 weed isnt for every budy everytime it depends on individuals place how they use it.for my chronic pain its a magic herb that helps with sever pain definitely it as down sides using with cautious an knowledge of it gives us ways use it.
It's strange how they're pushing weed these days like it's some healthy supplement. I've known people who went from smoking weed in the 70s and early 80s to being on crack during the crack era.
Whatever the substance, when it stops serving you, and you become a slave to it, it's time to quit. I would add that the legalization of marijuana makes it much more difficult to abstain. Depending on the state/town/city you live in, there might very well be an almost surreal density of pot shops. I wonder how they all even stay in business... One thing is for sure, the industry depends on the recruitment of new users. IMO it is on it's way to becoming just a dangerous (and insidious) as the tobacco industry ever was.
@luminariwave1829 honestly, I have a few more dollars in my checking account. That's about it. Enjoying life? Not really, just more aware of why I stoned to begin with. I really dislike people.
@@simo2073 understandable. The good part is that we can live life without necessarily liking people. There are there but we can continue doing our own thing. The main point is to like and love oneself. The rest unfolds from there.
While good for you, your testimony is not good for those in denial. THC has variability by person, and some percentage of people are like you, but that's not the case for far too many who will not recognize the frogs water getting boiled untill it's highly problematic, as they've used the rare cases of less addiction and less sensitivity (perhaps in your case) as if it applies to them as well, when it doesn't.
@@kathleenking47 you are right. I think canibus helps identify things like paranoia. Not everyone gets it when they consume it. Also, different strains do different things. Sativa is more high energy and a mind high- or cerebral. Indica is more of a couch lock and will make you less inclined to do things or it makes you lazy. Personally I use it to calm down and settle in after work. I still function and get things done but with the edge dulled.
When i smoke weed i feel like i cant breathe and feel like imma die. 10 years ago id just feel so good smoking it. The legal weed aint good for u. Idk if its chemicals or i may have a medical condtion or what. But Trust me i love weed. Just pay attention to how u feel when u smoke it.
No it doesn't. I'm sure the price of everything including food and rent has doubled in the last ten years. How about covid and inept governance? That causes plenty of anxiety. Don't blame it on the weed.
To my understanding this could be primary causes of newer cases of Schizophrenia and Psychosis without necessarily having genetic vulnerability or a disease that was laid dormant, which means everyone who uses this for 'medical purposes only' will have one disqualification, which is the mental health, this in the longer term raises a risk of psychiatric illnesses than other substances, combined with psilocybin mushrooms, but as a psychoactive derivative it is the mildest but it's consequences are harsh. Only in the last years i'm realizing that i have believed in a myth that weed is absolutely harmless and has been banned for wrong reasons, but no, when a law makes a draft and enforces a law it's there for a reason, unreasonable laws aren't enforced, it may of have been banned due to political interest, but public health wasn't concern here, i as well thought that 'hey they ban it because we can't tax it and don't need' but no, public health is something else.
"It causes what it cures" This is an important piece of knowledge about plant medicine. Plant medicine has become quite popular but knowledge on how to actually safely and appropriately use it is rather uncommon.
I think, at this point in our relationship with cannabis, it is foolish and ignorant to pretend it is good for everyone, and that long term use will be without effect. We should be at a level of awareness at this point in human history to see that any substance can be addictive and reliance on any medicine or drug will have unwanted effects.
I know millionaires business owners who smoke everyday. An excavator w/ government contacts a retired cable contractor had bucket trucks and employees started out climbing telephone poles 1980. My cousin was a detective pinalas country left his job became a realtor full time title business buying and selling, sold the business 14 million retired, he's fine.
I find this hard to believe that they physically feel ok. Personally i feel like shit if i smoke every day likely because it highjacking my dopamine levels and im needing that hit to feel normal. Greater addiction and psychiatric decline can take place because your throwing off the homeostasis in your body. I still enjoy it for other reasons but i try to keep it to once a week. Sober feels way better
No matter how u slice an dice it ,combustion in any form is not good for the lungs an heart ,Vapeing is worse ,,,,they never discuss LUNG OR HEART DISEASE,LOL
@@shannoncat1984smoke most days. Have for many years. Feel great. Get active and be responsible and it can be a fantastic benefit to your life. Most don't do the first two and suffer.
Im not sure. Last time I had it was 4 year's ago excluding CBD weed about 3 year's ago and I was much less stressed. I think it depends on variety, quantity and individual brain.
I have been smoking daily for 30 years daily morning to night... I have no issues with stress. I live in beautiful BC where the bud is abundant. I find it interesting to hear someone's opinion to something she has no personal experience with...lol
She’s looking at scientific studies, she’s not sharing her opinion. You could either be an outlier or in denial. The studies show the avg results of a group of people. Doug has also smoked a lot in the past himself.
Not sure what 'European' studies have been done, but they just legalized it in Germany. Spain I'm sure it's legal, or getting there anyway. UK you can get flower on prescription as long as it's vaped, for a whole range of qualifying conditions
I agree with this At the same time it’s not for everyone. Some people say it makes them more relaxed while others it gives them bad anxiety…I think it’s just a base to base case. I started using it for pain because I had a messed up hand and it definitely helped with the pain. I noticed my anxiety got worse and it sucked because I liked marijuana for pain relief. I wish I was one of those people who got the relaxation benefits 😅
Delta 9 tch will flatten out our receptors. Cbd cbg, cbn tcha, are good. Just stay away from getting high... delta 9 thc eventually will harm u down the road. Stay sober... get high on life via exercise, meditation, music
I don’t believe in recreational weed is very strong in Canada but working with military police and people that have had compound post traumatic trauma regulated, low-grade oil CBD for little conservative amount of THC. It’s not bad it’s conservative grade THC that does break up PTSD but I combine it with aromatherapy always the practitioner so I can’t demonize the THC complete.
I don't understand why I don't like it, then... Especially what you get these days, is far too strong and debilitating. I don't understand why people call it a "soft drug", (whatever that conceptualise)... I think it's foolish to demonise the use of any drug, however. Not evangelise them, either way. Cannabis is useful in a medical context, just like the other old "natural" drugs we still use. Like opiates etc. But, I think adults should have their own choice, but it's best to be careful and honest with yourself... (Btw. some of the strongest and most nasty toxins we know, are natural products from other organisms.)
This answer is based on the title. Ive been using canibus most of my life. Im not paranoid. It helps calm me down and focus on the issues i need to face. That being said , its not for everyone.
Misleading content will be great what you say is 100% false and its a fact every person get it different with weed some is good and some people better not to that’s how it is I never had stress say it
Your personal experience means nothing. MADD give a presentation on the dangers of drinking and driving. I say “we’ll I’ve been drinking and driving every day for 40 years and I’ve never hurt so much as a squirrel. You’re(not your) wrong.” My experience may be a data point but it’s not the data on the dangers of drinking and driving.
Weed is dependent on the smoker , some can handle it and some can't and that's with everything in life . I've smoked for 35 years and I don't have any issues . What a load of rubbish , why don't they talk about pharmaceutical drugs that people take for anxiety. There are those in our communities who have underlying mental health issues and when they smoke weed oh! It's the weed that's the problem , no it's the person . If its not for you and you have mental health problems then give it up or don't start .
I'm only 7 minutes in and I couldn't disagree more. No worries tho. Everybody's lives are so incredibly complicated and different. At 58, I know a thing or two about my relationship with cannabis and its pros and cons, but I'm no expert. ✌️❤️
So do a side by side of alcohol no one seems to be worried about the long term effects nor the lives lost from over doses. I am pro cannabis, why you can choose to drink or not, THC is much safer. As a veteran that is offered big pharma death cocktails as well as the ability to drink alcohol at will because it's legal. My chances of death just due to meds alone is higher. Who has died from THC??? Do the study and compare to other schedule drugs and alcohol. No one thinks that this is the weed of the 70's and 80's.
They are talking about the physiological effects of it and the harm. Just because you don’t physically die doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen emotionally, spiritually, etc.
The problem is that people are starting to smoke 24/7 and that’s NOT healthy. Hence why there’s a surge of more people suffering from these withdrawals. I’m NOT against weed, I partake all the time, but I do respect and understand how it affects people and if people are saying they’re having a hard time with it, then it’s our job to look into it.
Freedom of choice. It is beneficial for some. There are times when it is helpful. It is a tool. I've seen it stop someone from suicide. It helps my brother with his MS and a friend with Parkinson's. There is no one size fits all. Prison and fines for using it only hurts people and unnecessarily puts folks in Jail. Work on your own body and don't legislate mine.
Bc the pharmaceutical companies are buying up dispensaries and grow facilities left & right now. They have to make it legal in order for pharmaceutical companies to legally make a profit off it.
It's not the weed It's the way the weed smoker thinks the rest of the world is gonna judge them. The fear of being looked at as a outcast, fear of losing or inability to get work. All the stigma that comes alone with smoking weed in my opinion
before I even waste any time watching this. does this Lady or gentleman demonize cannabis? just curious. if not I'll watch. I can't stand it when people with no actual experience using the herb demonize the plant. it could literally save the planet. makes better clothes, better shoes, better oil, better money. we literally could stop cutting down trees, and use hemp for paper. it's a huge cash crop that could save the farmers of America. I'm in the middle of a 30 day detox. but the plant has been nothing but good to me. hemp for victory!! it is good to take a few months off here and there. and I wouldn't do anything everyday. moderation is key.
This was a boring podcast with little to no new details, science is lacking on THC, one important thing to note is that as she speaks she lumps small doses and huge doses together which is beyond silly as most things will make a U curve if you take too much. Don't be run out by fear folks, if you have heightened anxiety try lowering the dose/ taking a break for a few days and returning with a lower dose. It's nice to throw the word expert in here but for people who have done their due diligence and looked over the studies this is mostly useless as their is very little good science that really says THC is harmful.
This great lady unfortunately is using her title to try to inform the public with false information along with alot of her personal "hypothesis". I would be surprised to hear that this ind. Has any personal experience with cannabis other than her studies.
