Just been hired by a death metal band. Came from jazz. Completely blown away by the quality of the bass playing in this genre. I learned some Patitucci. Now gotta learn some Webster.
Sure! I do Weddings (only for a good people), Funerals (haters only) & Corporates (if your boss can afford Business Jet for me and my saint bernard dog) 😎
It sounds like a tom and jerry episode where ton chases jerry through the house knocking things over....then guts jerry with his fingers and eats him raw.
I like to equate death metal to b horror movies, like evil dead, shit like that. So what you're saying kind of fits, and I'm saying this as a huge metal head. I think if you think about it that way it makes more sense to people that don't like death metal. His bass tone makes it sound more cartoony than their music does on their albums though.
It looks like someone is just moving their hands as fast as possible on the fret playing around to look like they're playing the most difficult song they could imagine, but he's... actually playing a song.
Alex would be proud. I've seen corpse nearly 20 times and had the honor of hanging out with them once. While speaking to Alex I asked why they never play this live and he explained hownits just to demanding in a live setting. I think Alex can play anything live but its tough on george
This is so insanely great… I’m a beginner bassist and I actually was so happy to be able to learn to play riffs from Hammer smashed face. This is such a motivation to practice further, thank you
Блин..практически,почти как оригинал)) спасибо,настроение поднял,за соотечественников сразу как то не стыдно что-ли стало)) удачи друг..удивляй и утирай носы нам и далее..долгих лет Вам творчества и жизни..
After playing guitar for 13 years, I love listening to music that reminds me that I’m still an awful musician compared to some that are out there, and no genre humbles me better than metal and its many subgenres.
@William Edward's when seeking excellence in an instrument, feel isn’t nearly as fun or rewarding as technic. It just naturally comes with playing, so technic should be prioritized
Bassists do get credit, but if you look at non musicians that don't even know what a bass guitar is you can't expect them to say something about it. One of my friends who is a drummer didn't even know what the differences between a bass and a guitar were (visually).
@@DanielNiangbas In that case it's a matter of ignorance from those people who can't tell the difference between two different instruments. Who cares if you don't get credit from someone who doesn't know shit about music...
I believe he also came up with the name Cannibal Corpse. Saw these guys back in 2015 with Cattle Decapitation. Best night of my life. Free Pat O'Brian!
I dont like cannibal corpse but I still decided to click on this video. I didn't know the human body could reach levels like those, i was mesmerized the entire time while watch this.
This is a composition of Pat O Brien. Any time this band was remotely interesting, it was an O Brien composition. Now he's out of the band cuz he's apparently nuts lol. Can only imagine how boring their new album is.
The amount of skill and precision it takes to play that is goddamn incredible. Your speed and accuracy borderline inhuman. Hats off to you, good sir. The Cannibal Corpse song was okay, too, I guess.
After attempting to learn this song on guitar and quit in the middle of it, im seeing this.....the accuracy is amazing. The timming is perfect. The percussion while slapping and the way the right hand moves, doing almost the same thing as the snare, is breathtaking. This is a masterpiece. Its played at Alex Webster`s level.
@@rebelfiend1193 I was thinking the same, especially Davie. If its not slap he's not interested. Im sure he still has the ability to play it, would just take him a while to actually learn it properly.
Dude, thank you for actually playing this mostly correctly, no one else is even close. You do a couple things ever so slightly incorrectly, but I don't blame you, this song is insane, it makes my hand feel like I just punched a brick wall for 3 minutes
Gallops are playing by three fingers, like Alex Webster. Or by two fingers, like Steeve Harris. And I can only imagine how it can be played by a pick... It is so hard)) I preffer Webster's style - one move of right hand with prepared three fingers and the gallop is done! It is so easy to play this way songs like "The final countdown" by Children of Bodom and "Lost" by Kreator. These songs are full of gallops.
I've been hoping to see you cover this for so long.. and it finally happened!!! Outstanding as always, and funny af with the last bit :P Not gonna lie, if for whatever reason Alex leaves CC, there's no one else that can fill his shoes properly like you can. (In my opinion ;) )
dude.. SICK.. this song has been part of my warm up for a decade and I'm lucky if I can nail it up to the bridge this is such a difficult piece of music
Daaamn save some skills for the rest of us!! Seriously though flawless cover my man, that’s a really difficult song to cover and you made it look effortless 😦 also that ending killed me 😂🤘
Blew my mind with the "pinky/thumb" slap technique dude. When I first started playing bass as a kid I used that technique not knowing others used it too. But then I stopped doing it because I thought it wasn't a "legit" technique and it would be frowned upon by my bass teacher, lol. I hope you end up playing on some huge albums and get the recognition you deserve dude, phenomenal playing.
IDM, this video is INSANE and got me HOOKED on you and your other stuff, I got it randomly and now I’m a HUGE fan, you are beyond! I checked out a bunch of death metal I never got to as a result. I think I’ve watched this 40 times lol. I’m glad to have found you, I hope you BLOW UP!!!
Cannibal Corpse' music would be WAY more entertaining if you could actually HEAR their bassist. This slaps! I hate that most bands turn their bass player down to the point where they're nothing but low frequencies in the background. Bass should be as prominent as every other instrument, dynamically speaking. Great playing, and lovely bass.
Definitely one of Cannibal Corpses most technical songs in there library if not the most technical to play on bass and guitar. Outstanding cover! You are an excellent musician.
Incredible technical attack. I love watching the making of this album with master Webster and O’Brian hashing out this song in the studio. O’Brian looks possessed when he does the chording! So Sic! 🤘🤩🤘
