bc the parents don't need two so when one is killing the other, one is staying for the survival of specie and it's less work. Anyway, they don't love their offspring : just make what necessary to keep them alive and survival of specie. Love in nature doesn't exist neither than justice. Both want to live but one is strongest and wants to keep the food for itself.
The lucina did not kill its young last season, but the young were killed by accidentally being thrown out of the nest bowl when the young pecked and pinched the head feathers of the mother who was tidying up the nest.😊
This is the most brutal & tragic video I have ever seen😢. If Lucina would have fed it like she fed baby #1, it would have been bigger to hold its own. RIP sweet baby.
I’ve never seen the Mother actually tear her child apart, while still alive and feed it to her other chick. She did not end its life quickly like you said. It was horrible and unnecessary.
