So happy to hear the rancher replaced the calves. My husband and I raise and sell cattle in Texas. You can marinate chicken breast meat in pickle juice and then fry it. It will taste very similar to a Chick-fil-A sandwich.
You may have just changed chicken and chicken sandwiches in my house-I never thought to marinate in pickle juice but it is a stroke of genius! I’ve got to tell my brother about this as well, he’s addicted to the Chick-fil-A sauce already, so he should try this as well and truly feed his addiction (he lives two hours from the nearest Chick-fil-A). His wife might kill me for getting him on another Chick-fil-A kick, but I’ll take my chances. 😹😹😹
Love starting my week with you! So calm, sweet and kind. God blesses those who bless others! Praying for Baby Three Rivers! Thank you for all you do to teach us and encourage us. Have a blessed week!❤️☺️🙏🏼
Wow, God bless that cattle rancher! He isn’t obligated in any way to replace the calves, and considering how much money those things can pull in, most ranchers won’t replace calves that die. He is certainly earning his spot in heaven, and I hope the kindness he shows others comes back to him as well. It makes my heart happy to hear of truly good acts being done by purely good people like this, and for truly good people like you and your family. I’ll echo what everyone is saying: I woke up this morning and thought, “Jessica probably posted a video, time to get up and get my weekly fix.” I love your content, but also love your delivery-you have such a kind and calming presence it’s therapeutic watching you.
@@hana.dd41874 I’ve never heard of anything like that being in place, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t something to that effect in some areas. The issue with that though is it’s not a piece of machinery or electronic equipment, so it’s kind of up to Mother Nature on the genetics and immune system strength in calves, so it’s pretty difficult to set a time on a living creature, particularly when they are put under quite a bit of physical and mental strain like they are when they are shipped. The other issue with calves is they are like human babies in that they decline very rapidly due to their size and “untested and not toughened” immune system-they can be presenting perfectly fine at 9 pm and be laying dead at 8 the next morning. This is just what I have seen and observed though so there may be something out there about at least a partial refund if the calf dies within 24-48 hours of receipt.
My greatneice was born yesterday. She was a little early. Almost 2 months. She,Mom and Dad are doing well. We have a new member of the family. Looking forward to your new baby.
I make my canned beef stew the exact same way. We add thickener when we open the jar. I like to add curry powder and make a beef curry out of it, also.
Hi Jessica, I hope you're feeling awesome and that that wee babe, is growing and doing what babes are meant to do at your time through your pregnancy. All my love from, Dee in NZ ❤️
So glad you showed how the raw stew is readied for canning. I normally cook then can but this process saves time! The calves are a blessing-the rancher is one who knows that giving is receiving-what a blessing for your family. I love watching your children being kids but also being helpful. The fluff is so pretty and I know gives cocoa a wonderful taste. You inspire me weekly. Please remember to take care of you and baby. Prayers to you all-have an abundant week~
Thank you for answering part of my question… I was wondering if you can refrigerate and it keeps its form for later use. I’m also wondering if you can freeze it in dollops? I don’t have a freeze dryer myself.
God watches over his children So happy you were able to replace your calves and didn’t have to pay for them. God Bless the cattle man that did you right in my eyes. I realize it wasn’t his fault nor yours but good came out of it. Love your videos. Your a remarkable mother. God Bless you and your family.
Today I have learnt that there is cacao and cocoa! I love the canned soup stew. Here in Poland soup is a must especially in the winter season. We've got dozens of soup recipes in the Polish cuisine. PS. The little boys are cute hanging out just in their diapers/underwear. Your house must be really warm!
Thanks for showing the Marshmallow fluff again!! I am going to try it with hot cocoa this winter when I have my grandkids here! :) I have decided, also...I have wanted to do an Azure Standard Haul for so long. So while I am doing the pantry challenge this year (since I have been stocking with freezer meals i have been making on my channel and canning meals) i am going to take my grocery money and do a cash stuffer envelope and save it for an Azure haul. I am super excited about this!
Thank you Jessica for all you do! Wanted to tell you I made lemon and orange extract last week had to go watch your video on that again. Hope you and yours have a Blessed until next Sunday I always look forward to your videos.
Thanks for the another perfect video! :) I wish we also have the same products in our shops (Europe) as in USA. You did a BIG sacrify to cut out diary for the whole family, very nice of you. But you also have some allergies? Soy and wheat? Have a nice day 😊
Lord love you. You are such a hard worker and do it all with love and grace. Know that many are praying for you each day as you get nearer to your delivery date. May the Lord continue to bless you and your wonderful family. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
Thank you for as always being there for the end of my weekend. You are my fav RU-vidr. Thank you for sharing everything you do with us and handling everyone's comments with so much grace.
I raw pack canned beef stew last year. Love how tender the beef is. I have a couple beef roasts I'm going to can in pints to make more freezer space. Have a blessed day.
I hear very conflicting things about palm oil .I don't know what to believe. I guess its all in what you read and believe in. So we use avocado oil and olive oil for almost everything. Interesting info about the dates. The cattle rancher did the right thing. Good for him and everyone! Thanks for sharing 🤗🍃🍂🍁🎃💗✝
What is a baby sweet as a rose with petal pink skin and a week little nose, with hair soft as snowflakes and shimmering eyes, life's greatest miracle in your arms now lies. and what is a mother well that's hard to say she could have been anyone untill that day, but a baby was laid in her arms to impart a gentle new wisdom of mind and heart.
Your videos are just pure joy to watch, thank you for sharing your beautiful family and life with us. You are by far my favourite homesteading channel to watch. Where I find others to be contrived, showy or boastful at times, Jessica you are refreshingly humble & true. You are a genuinely good person and it shows. Can’t wait for next week’s video! PS, you look radiant as always. God bless x
I have the same garlic “smasher” and I love it! I was rewatching some of your older videos and I cannot believe how much your children have grown in just 2 years😮 Particularly Gabe and Grace and obviously Benjamin. From todays video it looks like Gabe may be as tall as you or close to it? Thanks for sharing your week with us!
I'm 36 weeks along in my first pregnancy. Didn't know about the dates. Do you lot think it's to late to try chowing down on some for better labor outcome?😊
Thank you for sharing your marshmallow fluff recipe. I have everything on hand and can whip up a batch when I need to instead of buying the jars from the store. I’m amazed at how much you get done each day being pregnant. I remember being exhausted my entire pregnancy. I’ll be praying for a quick and easy labor and delivery for you and your new baby.
Me too! Fatigue was actually my first and most reliable symptom of being pregnant, and it never left the whole pregnancy. I was blessed to not have morning sickness, gestational diabetes, or eclampsia, but if I sat down for more than ten minutes at work, chances were good a coworker would be waking me up. I don’t think I ever was able to watch a full movie while pregnant, I was asleep on the couch long before it was done. I still enjoyed pregnancy though, it is an amazing process, but Jessica sets the bar very high for pregnant women: she is probably the most beautiful pregnant woman I’ve ever seen (she actually has that good glow, not the overheated sweaty mess I was) and it’s just the baby bump increasing, not everything, she’s graceful-which probably sounds bizarre to some people, but I am naturally a bit clumsy and when another human was on board I was tripping over lint in carpet, and like you said, she’s so productive it puts my non-pregnant self to shame. LOL!
Great tips for canning stew! I have never canned stew that way. Looking forward to giving that a try. I am saving this video for that and the marshmallow fluff recipe. I was just talking to my husband this week about your marshmallow fluff. I'll have to make some for him this week. What a wonderful rancher to replace those calves for you! I pray that he is blessed abundantly for his kindness.
The soup looks wonderful ☺️! When I was expecting I always tried to make food in advance for postpartum too. I would try for a full months worth of lunches and dinners and it always made for so much more peaceful post partum time. Enchiladas were our family's favorite! I would make lasagna and enchilada casseroles too. Our garden is finishing up as well and I'm getting ready to process a bunch of chicken soup with celery and carrots from the garden. I'm so excited!
Don't forget to remember what you ran out of during the January's and February's no grocery shopping last year in your next Azure order before the baby if you are going to do that especially after having a baby. I am really amazed at what you do. God bless
I am a new subscriber and can I tell you how wonderful it is to see kids whose faces are not constantly in their phones actually talking to their parents and each other. They are dressed nicely they don't have body parts showing they don't have multiple piercings and tattoos oh this is the life I wish everybody had. You have done a great job on the homestead with these children
So happy that you are getting so prepared for your new arrival & for the winter! Love the fluff recipe😋yummy! Such a blessing that you got your steers replaced!❤🙌❤
Really enjoyed watching you make the marshmallow fluff. I think we’ll have to try that one. Do you have any trouble with your azure potatoes sprouting? I have purchased 100 pounds twice at different times of the year, and all mine sprouted with 3 weeks.
Love your videos! It seems like they are only 5 minutes long. Great to see that you're getting so much done in preparation for the baby. Love Adam's Warrior Poet tshirt! My youngest son watches that channel. .
Everything I see you do is top notch! I love all you did to prevent shipping fever.... especially the alleyway! What a good person who replaced your steers when he didn't have to! Faith in humanity restored! 😂
I love how you find a use for everything, you waste nothing. Which reminds me of how God is the same way. Nothing goes to waste. He redeems everything, even our past sin gets put to use. What an awesome God we serve!
Marshmallow fluff looks great will try that for sure. A tip on freeze drying, never mix frozen and non frozen foods in at the same time. You could have put the pickle juice in for more dry time and it would have finished drying. I changed the factor set 2 hours of extra time when drying cycle says finished to 12 hours which gives you more time to get food out before the machine needs to be warmed up to get the food safely bagged or jarred up. Cold food will not store well. Just got load 106 out of our freeze dryer. Love yours.
Thank you Jessica ,you learn me many thinks and tips ,Wow* ! I co make the Marsmello fluffie for mij Cacau, wichs you a good week and blessings greetings from Maja in the Nederlands.
I need to try and make your marshmallow fluff. It looks so yummy. I like your mixer. What brand is it? That food on the grill looked incredible. Oh, I would like to see how you can your pot-pie filling. I enjoy to see how organized you are, thinking ahead as the baby is soon to arrive, making things now so that it can be less stressful with a newborn and I just love your canning shelves. Take care my dear. A big warm hug for you and lots of hugs for your kiddos.
💚 Thanks for sharing your week! Love the Beef Stew and freeze-dried marshmallow fluff and pickle juice! Bless you All. Oh, and your 2 new steer calves..beefy boys for 2024. 💚
Your new calves are precious! I hope things work out better for them! It was really nice of the man to replace them for you!!!!! Love how everyone steps in and helps out with everything. It will be time to start planning meals for when new baby comes pretty soon!!!!! So exciting!!!!! I know your girls are going to be such a big help, well, all of your children will be so helpful during that time!!!!!!
I am new to canning and want to can beef stew, you said you processed it for 90 minutes but at what pounds per pressure? Thank you for all you do! I love watching your videos!
Love it! Okay totally forgot about canning stews. Thank you for the reminder. next weekend. This weekend, canned ham, soup, pickled veggies, green tomato chow and pineapple jam. Whew. Getting ready for no grocery Jan/Feb. - Oct 15 14 quarts of stew canned.
Love waking up on Sundays and watching your videos while drinking my coffee. You are such an inspiration! I learn something every time I watch you and that is so refreshing as I am retired and 64 years old. Looking forward to baby Three Rivers making their appearance into this world. Until next week, God bless you and your family!!!
God's blessing with the new cattle-hope they adapt well to their new home. Always watching for new ideas on canning and preserving the foods we already have - been very busy this summer myself with lots and lots of canning. Many blessings on these last few months for Baby #8 - I idol every pregnancy and hope I will be blessed with one myself again 🙂
I tried the beef stew canning project. It had a different conclusion that yours. There must have been some siphoning cause the water and jars are greasy. I took them out last night and checked to see if they were sealed this morning and they are. Is this an indication that the jars are good to store and use?
Hi Jessica! Love watching your channel, I always learn so much! My aunt and I just tried your method for canning stew. Everything smells great, but I have a question. Is it normal for most of the fat to siphon out of the jars during the canning process? There was little fat to begin with, but I don’t see the fat ring we normally see when canning others meats and beef. Did we do something wrong?
Do you know Alesscia with the Dougherty Dozen ? Lol the mug you have has her catchphrase on it lol except she always said but first, coffee and before y’all start coming for me I know her mug says tea. I’m talking about more or less the “but first” part lol 😂 where’s you yet the mug
What a blessing the farmer replaced the calves for you! The previous one's dying must have been so traumatic, I'm sure. It's funny when you mentioned eating dates during pregnancy, I've had four kids, and my third one, I ate dates for about 6 weeks before the labor religiously everyday. And I had my hardest labor and my most pre labor/prodromal labor . I can't blame the dates per se but I gave them up for my fourth baby and I had a beautiful and fast birth with much less pre labor, so they didn't do the job for me 😏😂!
Maybe you should just can your extra pickle juice since it doesn't seem to be working 100% in your freeze dryer and just have it on the Shelf can instead.
Curious...do you ever use half gallon jars for canning? Especially with such a large family? My husband and I recently bought some, and we canned moose stew in one of them to test. It sealed great, we left it on the shelf for a week just to see if anything would happen (nothing did), and then ate it. I made some extra broth and added some green beans to it, and it was perfect for our family of 8. :) it just seems such a waste of lids to use 2 quarts for our family. 😄
Do you have any book recommendations as far as your diet for autoimmune disease? I started following your channel when I got into canning but I’ve recently been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. Thank you for all of the awesome content. God bless 😊
If you didn't know, you might, but cocoa has magnesium in it, so I wonder if your lacking in that. Can't wait to see how you do the chicken pot pie filling, Interested in that video. Nancy from nebraska
You have a lovely property, so well looked after. Hope the calves are by now all settled in. What a great idea canning the stew, I slow cook mine and then freeze. Well the cacao must be doing the advertising for keeping skin lovely. Often thought how lovely your skin is.
Do you have a hot chocolate recipe you can share? I'd like to get away store bought, sugar ladened hot chocolate packets. Love your channel. You're soothing to listen to.
Jessica, Did you know that your marshmallow fluff is a great cream replacement in coffee? It gives that creamy feel while being less caloric and gut healing at the same time!
I’m wondering if anyone can tell me if you can freeze the marshmallow fluff in dollops and they still come out OK? I don’t have a freeze dryer and I would like to have them on hand for last minute.
Hello I was wondering about your shelfs behind you I have these I bought about a month ago for my canned goods, but I am gonna halft to take my stuff off the shelfs and redo them as they bowed in the middle and I see yours are perfect just wondering if maybe I have done something wrong in putting them together
Regarding the pickle juice. What kind was it. A vinegar type or lacto fermented? I have lots of leftover lacto fermented juices and that would be a good idea to freeze dry.
I was sent a message from ForJars that they will have to raise their price due to added costs now to their supplies, so if you need lids the sale ends soon.
