looks pretty easy. I inherited one of these and the manual was gone. So this is just what I needed for canning some stew. Love the Christmas shirt too!
It would be good if you can do a full video going from start to finish. Showing how you release the steam out slowly and letting it sit for five min and not moving it for 12 hours. This took me sometime to figure this out.
Thank you so much for sharing! Your video is clear and easy to follow. Informative and visually pleasing. I use my instant pot everyday and I make instant pot recipe videos too so I am always on the look out to see what everyone is using their instant pots for and this is exciting. Canning is something I haven’t tried but have thought about a lot. You make it look easy I’ll have to give it a try when it’s time to harvest my garden You taught me something new. Id love to continue to learn from each-other.
Mama Z- I have a power pressure xl and have canned beans, green beans, carrots. We opened and eaten the ranch beans and their great. I just watched a different video that says electric canners are not safe. I appreciate your opinion (?)
@@MamaZsTexasKitchen I have two of them, I got the 6 quart then I got the 8 quart thinking the last one would process quart jars. So I was very curious to see if your processed quart jars. I bought them on buy sell and trade. They both had not been used. I have figured out the process of how to keep the jars from loosing water in them. You have to decompress very slowly so it can take up to 30 min and then let the jars sit in the water for 5 min before taking them out. It’s the same method as you would do if I used a canner on the stove . I was letting the steam out to fast and the juices would escape from the jars. Thank you for getting back to me on my question . There has been posts from official sites saying that it’s not approved and we can get botulism if not processed correctly .
I use fresh garlic in all my canning. I have a All American. I just got one of these and a nesco. Without being one of “those” doom and gloom ppl... I have done a lot of research I am a rebel canner. This specific pot has a #11 pound regulator so anyone at a altitude of 1000 ft or more shouldn’t use this. Also packing that meat in there like that does not allow the temp turn to get to where it needs to be to kill all the spores. PLEASE PLEASE FOR YOUR FAMILIES SAFTY ALWAYS always can meat at 75 minutes 60 minutes is not enough. Again I don’t necessarily follow the usdas “ rules” but the length on processing I do. 75 minutes for pints 90 minutes for quarts. I love your videos! I hope this message is not taken as offensive rather helpful because I don’t want to see you or your family get sick❤️
Hi my name is Sylvia stapelberg all the way from Sout Africa. Got my canner a few days ago and now i wonder where do i get the time to set for my curtan recipies.....how do i know how long for canning curtan stuff. please help
Garlic can get a little bitter if it's cooked too high of heat or too long so many canning recipes leave out the fresh garlic. Also, when canning, you will often have a little siphoning of the liquids out of the jars until they seal which can cause your lids not to seal. That's why it's really important to pay attention to making sure the rims of the jars are clean, it's debubbled and that your headspace is accurate. Even still, all things done properly, there can be small amounts of siphoning which is likely the reason your water was a little greasy. Mine always is when I can any kind of meat, broth, or even beans because I usually can my beans in broth lol.
I plan on putting fat in my jars. It looks questionable, maybe, but it tastes fantastic. And, this winter, it might be best to plan like we'll need those fats in our diminished diet.
just want to find out ....if i set out to much canning lids and have warm it up but did not use it, is it still use sable for caning food or must i discard
Respectfully, How did the stew cook? Do you believe you might have not allow enough headspace on jars? How has your canning been with this canner? Just a general update on this video posting. I can for one Me, so I am always interested in small batch canning and a set it and wait process. Finally, have you had to replace any parts and if so what parts.
I'm getting one of these tomorrow, and I need to get some brisket done. I canned before, and the noise and the heat were too much bother. That type of disruption is not worth it, for me. I'd rather buy it done for me, but this is a game changer.
I have had one for a couple years. I've used mine for canning, but the "canning community" says it's not safe because it's electric, so I stopped. I'm so conflicted. Your videos are the only recent ones out there. Any new thoughts or comments on this? Thanks.
@@MamaZsTexasKitchen yes, so it would seem. They gave these st out (small) big box store. I'm in the Caribbean, and they aren't that much here. They'd never sell. I'll have a look at them tomorrow. Will a smaller size do at least 4 jars at a time? I had the sense to buy jars before they stopped making them.
Hello, I have a 10 QT instant pot can I use it for canning ? I want to start doing it but I am worry because I don't know what to do and I don't know what is the purpose for canning lol! but it looks like fun ;)
I love my power xl. I usually let NR on it’s own when canning, then ajar the lid after the pin drops for 5 to 10 min before removing jars. Thank u for sharing this!!
