I'm regretting all the cherry pits I tossed. I won't make that mistake again! Beautiful cherry jam and jelly. I love seeing hanging onions and garlic it must be so satisfying to go down to the cellar and see all of your hardwork manifested into nourishment for your family. Thank you for another great video.

Another way you can preserve your cherry tomatoes is to roast them in the oven, put in a jar and cover with olive oil and keep in the fridge. I also add garlic cloves for extra flavor and they will store for a year and retain all of their flavor. Great for adding to pizza and other recipes.

I had the same thought. Two years ago I was flush with cherry tomatoes. I dried and froze most of them. I could take a handful for each salad or pizza I made. I'm glad I did because the next two years I have not been successful in growing them. Too much pest pressure and not enough water. They are like candy when dried.

If you put a heavy duty fan in your basement pointing up the stairs to the main floor of the house, the cool air from the basement will help cool the rest of the house. I hope I explained that right lol. That is how I cool my house on the few warm days we have here in Michigan.

Hey Jessica, you’re like the energized bunny 🥰. I’m waiting on doing my beans, it has rained HARD at least twice a week the entire month ( so much so that it takes DAYS for the lawn to dry up enough to cut ) Yesterday’s rain my tomatoes fell over, so out I went to put them back up 😯 the ground is so wet they didn’t want to stay either. My Roma tomatoes are clustered and hanging like big grapes 😄 SUCH a beautiful growing season. I was up at 4am - woke by my husky, deer out in my back garden. 😡 Getting so angry at them now. Bean tops, turnip, and peas all 2nd plantings, are missing all their blossoms. Thankfully though- as long as there’s enough foliage they will continue and produce. It was so wet yesterday I didn’t cover them back over as they looked squished when I tried - to the deer it was all you can eat buffet. Love your channel AND the Hollars ♥️ Just so natural & doesn’t feel like a classroom 😂 Love your set up in the basement. 👍

Get you all 2 or 3 window air cond. Units! Lots cheaper than putting big unit under house up thru floor into house.! I dont do lot cooking in hottest part of summer! That kitchen is unbearable! I know how you feel. Sandwiches, salads, fruits is best eaten when so hot. Just suggestion. I have 2 window units in my house, helps tremendously!❤

Definitely empathize with trying to get canning, etc. done for a large family in the extreme heat. Heat like this (100's) is common where I live, usually in July and August, but it has been since June. I was frustrated and ended up getting a Carey automatic electric pressure/ water bath canner that I can use outdoors (have to have an outdoor electric outlet, obviously) in the heat. It works great, don't have to stand out there babysitting it and risking heat stroke, and the house stays cooler. It does smallish batches, but it's a great tool! I found that by using the "flat" 1/2 pint jars I could get 2 levels in the canner. Also, with the onions, etc. I stretched chain between ceiling hooks and was able to make small hooks from a metal coat hanger, enabling me to hang more bags on the chain but keep the air flowing.

Still have Pinto beans to can then I am getting the blueberries and cherries out of the freezer to make jam. I need to find a cool place for onions and garlic too. I don't have much but for us here in the south, it is getting close to plant garlic and onions. I'm looking forward to doing this. We had the coldest hard late freeze last Spring, and our trees were full of blooms. We have 4 different apples, 2 different plums, 4 cherry trees, 6 peach trees, 2 pear trees, 2 pomegranate bushes, and 2 other bushes that I can't recall the name. All of these loss their blossoms. The elders, black berries and goji berries were fine. But I so much enjoyed this video. I love your juice, jams and jellies videos. To me they are NOT redundant. Great garlic and onion harvest! We are also increasing the planting of these soon. Your cellar is looking great, with all that food. Many, many *hugs* to all.
