Wow Sister... LOL, was just looking to can some frozen corn and was looking at how new and clean your pressure canner was compared to the way it looked 5 years ago. Had some great meals cooked in there.... I always see if you canned it before I go to a book, I love the way you teach and explain things as to exactly why you do it like you do. Thanks so much...
Beverly love your programs please have more on budgets, and home economics. Had whole house generac installed and 500 lb. propane tank installed total price little less than 12000
Good Morning .. I soak my veggies in white vinegar it is a natural cleaner .. I learned this from my mother when we lived in southern Japan all their veggies were fertilized with "honey Bucket"... she used Clorox bleach and soak afterwards in water ..this was a necessity
I made this for the first time tonight along with the frozen peas! turnned out fantastic. I have been sharing it in a few canning groups today. so many people want the know. I just couldn't and past the link. I love learning from you and. sure others will too ;-)
It could be your pressure and the amount of time you can get four. If you live a thousand feet or more above sea-level your pressure times and weights may change
Good morning Bev... Wow, cool beans...I never knew that you could can frozen veggies, I just recently found out that you can dehydrate them too...Man am I ever going to drive Kenny nuts...LOL Have a great day Sweetie. Blessed Be and Smooches...
Planning on doing corn soon Bev. I love the new Mirro Pressure Cooker / Canner, I have the 22 qt - I think I can fit in it; they're great now and in a shtf situation because you have no gauge. Thanks for sharing.
I caned Corn and Pressure cooked it did it at the right pressure and time I may have the rims on to tight or not tight enough.. anyway my Corn in the Jars dont have water up to the top some only have 1/2 water they sealed so is it ok? or do I have to do something with them?
As long as you processed it for the right amount of time, then the food will be safe. The food sitting above the liquid will discolour due to being dry and exposed, but it is safe to eat.
I know this is an older video hope you can answer this question. I wonder about the frozen veges before when you put the in the jars are they still partly frozen or thawed
I really enjoy your videos. How far do you live from costco? I wish I had a cellar or a nice pantry. Where I live it is too hot. I am new to canning and I would like to know if you don't have a "cool" area does the stuff you can go bad sooner?
I miss your canning videos. I had a "nightmare" last night, I dreamt that my seals on my tomatoes started unsealing and I was cussing Bernardin's new lids. lol
+melissa Arrington My question as well--maybe to save freezer space? If you lose power for extended time it would make sense. Knowing Bev, she's got a good reason. lol
Bev have you ever put sugar in with your corn when canning it? My grandmother always put about a table spoon of sugar in when she cooked corn and it really gave it sweet taste. Love you guys and hope you are having a great visit with your cousin.
Organic doesn't mean it was not genetically modified. "Non-GMO" means not genetically modified. Organic just means that there were no harmful pesticides and chemicals used. Also throwing water on a veggie will not make it disease or microbe-free. :/ that's not how it works. if that was the case we wouldn't need to pressure can ;)
HI watching your video and came across something I think I should bring to your attention. Organic means 'grown in soil that is not processed with pesticides or any herbicides that kill weeds' organic grown foods only means how it was grown in the soil.. you should know that genetically modified corn or other plant based foods can be labeled organic if they were grown organically, but it does not mean they are not gmo if they are still grown organically. This here is what a lot of people are being tricked into believing that organic means non gmo... that is a false conception that these companies who are getting away with it. Cosco also is aware of that. If you want to make sure your food is organic AND non gmo, then they mist be labeled non gmo and organic. Peaches and cream may be a hybrid corn I am going to look into this more thorough. Don't trust just because it's labeled organic that it also means non genetic engineering. Organic grown is only meant in the way and what type of soil the plant was grown in
Everything I did look at has peaches and cream as a hybrid, but all but one seed company I found said it was non gmo, the one didn't say either way. Hope this helps.
veggies need to be done in a pressure canner. only high acid foods can be done in water bath canner. They have canning books you can buy by Ball Blue Book that has all the directions on how to can. Found mine at Ace Hardware. I have watched a ton of youtube videos on how to do it. nchfp.uga.edu/publications/publications_usda.html - is the National Center for Home Food Preservation. you can get lots of information on this website
