Why methanol is not formed in the reaction of benzaldehyde and formaldehyde for example?

In this reaction reactivity of formaldehyde is greater than benzaldihide towards OH- . So OH- attacks on formaldehyde...

Because of high stability of CCl3 anion (-I,-R effect ) intermediate undergoes cleavage of C-C bond instead of hydride shift, forms chloroform and formate ion CCl3-CHO + OH- ------> CHCl3 + HCOOH

Sir at 31:17, I am unable to get ke hua kya hai agr mechanism se jaya jaye then H- will shift but jo apne product bnaya hai usme double bond ko disturb nhi kiya.Why sir?
