My first Cannondale was a blue M800 Beast of the East which i repainted it Cadnium (Signal) Yellow and all parts were mostly purple Ringlé. :)) Very nice bike Brooklyn! Brought back some sweet memories to watch your bike build. ❤
I drove a ways to look at a Cannondale Rush SL. Not sure why I bought it except it was far enough that I didn't want to go home empty-handed. Bike needed a complete rebuild and is my first Cannondale. Had to get the Lefty fork rebuilt. Found a cheap new Rock Shox Monarch R rear shock. Waiting for a new 9 speed setup to arrive. Found new bearings for everything. Wish I could have started with a nicer bike - I probably paid a little much for mine. But I am learning. I don't know all the sizes and numbers when it comes to bicycles. Took me a couple tries to get the bottom bracket/crank and chain rings figured out. Anyway, looks like your niece's bike turned out good.
I should have mentioned two things in the video. The decals were put on after the bike was assembled and were not clear coated because we knew that Brooklyn would be adding a number of decals to the bike. The suspension rebuild was just replacing the seals and the oil on the rock shock recon. The Manitou rear shock cannot be rebuilt because there are no replacement parts however the seal is good. It just needed to be cleaned and aired up properly.
Thanks Mike. The powder vs paint video is still coming. I recorded a pretty cool story a few weeks ago that I am adding to it. I think you will get a lot of questions answered from it :)
Nice color and such a happy face! I think the fork can be changed from 80 to 100 or 130 mm travel by removing a spacer inside the air spring. That will make the fork more plush and the head angle slack.
Great work ! I would like to rebuild my old Prophet like this, with a powder coated frame 🤩. That said, perhaps the Rush deserves something more biting than those Avid BB7 mechanical brakes.
Was that the color code used for Cannondale's Speed Yellow? This color is sick! I've been punting around the idea of painting my Cannondale Prophet. Seeing this just sealed my color choice!
Love the video. Great job on the rebuild. I about gasped when I saw you installing the decals at the end. My dad raced xc since before I was born and I grew up watching him race. He had an old Cannondale Super V complete with an early generation lefty. Around late 2000's he picked up a Cannondale Rush (2007 to be specific) and raced that for a few more years before he got seriously injured and sadly his racing days were over. He continued to ride casually but nothing like before. A few years after I enlisted and made my way across the country, he shipped me his bike in the hopes that I would ride it like he did. Fast forward to today, it's in rough shape, needs upgrades, and the paint isn't what it used to be. I was considering getting it painted but had no hopes of running the rush decals after. That leads me to my question, where did you get those decals?

hi I know this is quiet a bit late to reply on this video. I also have a cannodale rush 26er and Im just wondering what size of headset did you use for the restoration? I also want to restoere my Cannodale rush. Thank you and hoping you would reply.
There are quite a few options, but basically all you need is the 1 -1/2" to 1-1/8" treadless headset. Here is an example of one. www.amazon.com/Cannondale-Reducer-Headset-Threadless-HD232/dp/B07PVDDYVM/ref=asc_df_B07PVDDYVM/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693769127210&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16031050920616144105&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9029499&hvtargid=pla-2142045404837&psc=1&mcid=f0d53c827b9f38f399222ace6211892a&gad_source=1
@@kona0197 I think your right on the BB7's They came with the bike as well as all of the parts. The budget was $500 for the makeover so that's what we went with. I think the 1x drive train will be the next upgrade. Thanks for watching!
