Before wooden & aluminum boats, canoe fishing was the preferred method for hunting out in the deep ocean here in Niue.
In this video, I will be showing you 2 ways of catching fish -
1. Trawling - rig up a mackerel, set it out to at least 30 fathom and paddle around the FADS or paddle adjacent to the reef at 50-100m out.
2. Fish with the current - rig up your hook with either a whole mackerel or fillet one side and hook it on. Drop it down to whichever depth you prefer (fathoms) and ensure your bait and line is straight.
