As promised - here's the story on the heaviest canoe surfing action we have ever captured!!! Enjoy and pls share with you ohana. #lethawaiihappen #oceanpaddlertv #ZONEMedia
I bet all the locals out there were stoked to see 4 guys with balls big enough to send it on an outrigger. I don’t think anyone really understands how much danger those guys were in if the amazing steersmen made one small error. They were likely gifted priority in the lineup.
Very clever choice of kayak, its hull is designed in a way that the bow is always elevated and doesn't sink, so it's difficult to capsize. Also the weight of 4 guys keeps the bow up, and 4 paddlers means you got a very fast launch while on top of the wave, bravo guys!
only to the surfers. The length of the canoe means they can take off well outside of where the main lineup would take off so, if the surfers are paying attention, everyone but the Kooks will get out of the way.
NGL - I’ve never seen a canoe snake a surfer before - unreal! Lol! Having said that, I think the craziest thing would be to see a surfer ride over next to the canoe and jump in. How insane would that be? Come on - do it for the fans! 😉👍🏻😆
I bet the surfers paddling out keep well out of your way! I used to compete in surf canoe, they sit two paddlers side by side in the front and two side by side in the back. Great fun! They were quite common on beaches around New Zealand for surf rescue, but have now been replaced by inflatables with outboard motors.
I love canoeing, surfing, and kayaks too. That was completely radical! Big canoe, big waves, and big smiles ... the stoke was very high! I've had to use some strong muscles to turn the canoe, with all that dead weight in the front (if your front guy isn't too good, just forward muscle), but never had to lean that far out with the paddle as far out as it can go ... bet your back muscles are fried ... heh heh. Loved the video!
i watched a guy surfing where the wave closed out on him during some big swells there many years ago . he made to the sand and began to crawl up onto the beach . he was helped by some onlookers before i could get to him .
Lots of smack talk about "dropping in" on this thread. 3:56 shows you that these guys are 50 plus yards outside and already have the wave. You wanna drop in behind THAT? Geevum den! Not like they do it every day either.
Canoes are the kupuna wave riding vehicle.. surfboard came after the canoes..surfers have to get out da way simple...hawns will always have priority!!..or catch cracks😂
A lot of fun ???? , you ruin every surfers day, you can Injure somebody doing that with surfers all around you, talking others people wave its not fun !!!
