You all prolly dont care at all but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost my password. I would love any help you can give me
I own both and I agree 100% with this review. I'm currently flying back home from Cancun and had limited space for lenses... so I literally spent time performing a very similar experiment with both lenses before EASILY settling on the Canon. Thumbs up!
I got the yongnuo mainly cause of the price, i'm a poor student and just do this as a hobby. I mostly don't use autofocus but manual with peaking, so thats okay. Maybe i'll upgrade one day.
Then you REALLY REALLY Need to look into adapted lens, m42 and I love MD mount... Helios, Minolta ect... You will hit gold and make mind blowing images
You’re so professional and well prepared, it’s a pleasure to see your videos. Sometimes other photography’s ones are so slow and hard to follow, yours are never boring and always so pleasant to listen to! This video is art and we can obviously see the effort you put in it. Thank you so so much! An Italian fan
I have had the Canon version I, II and STM. The Yongnuo is a little bit better than the Canon I & II. STM is a different formula and coating, it also focus 10cm closer. In my opinion YN is the best option for begginers on a budget. There are 2 versions of the YN 50 1.8, newer one has a metallic mount.-
Honestly, this video is damn good, the vibe, comparison, everything, but I wondered why it is underrated. Anyway, I learned so much. Thank you Paul. (Watching from Philippines)
Great video! I shot with the 50mm Yongnuo for a few years and completely agree with this review/comparison. I used it primarily with friends and family. I have used it for professional gigs once or twice, but it can require a LOT of editing in post. I no longer feel comfortable using it professionally for all of the reasons listed in the video. (I’ve tried EVERYTHING to prevent these problems over the years with no luck. They only occur when I use the Yongnuo lens.) If you want sharp, high-quality images without bleeding colors, go with the Cannon. If you’re just starting out and want to use the lens for practice or personal use, you’ll be fine with the Yongnuo. I’ve got some beautiful images out of it, but it doesn’t compare to a Canon lens in quality. Edit: to be fair, a lot of the problems I have with my Yongnuo lens may be hard for people who aren’t photographers to notice (e.g. my family and friends). As a photographer, I catch every detail, especially after using it for so long.
I think the Yongnuo might be a better "cinema lens" on a budget. Cinematography doesn't require super sharp detail. In fact cheap lenses can add some character.
I got the yongnuo as im poor. I was aware of its weaknesses but heard it was great for the price. Lens are so bloody expensive. I did bite the bullet on one lens though and love it. The sigma 18-35 art lens. Great review.
Just picked this up last night, went outside with only solar lighting at midnight it is fantastic can see how much fun I am going to have with this lense.
I used the yongnuo for a long time, since then till now I had a bit more money to spend so I went for the Canon this time around. After watching this video I’m glad I did!
Monday im getting the stm,my first nifty fifty! , im using a 700d for my first aproach to photografy, thanks to your channel im getting straight reviews and beginner friendly videos! cheers !
Not that I am planning to buy lens but I learned a lot about the topic in this video. I guess I owe Youngnou some credit for teaching what might go wrong with lenses...
Just got both of them a day or two ago im using the yongnuo to practice and get adjusted to it and now that im using the canon its so much easier to dial in the settings
Good review. Very detailed comparison. So grateful that I got the Canon nifty fifty. Actually once had a 50mm 1.8 II and it was not very durable and sharp. STM version is much sharper.
For years now I have the Canon 50mm f1.8 II. The lens gives nice images. But since a couple of years I use the Sigma 50mm f1.4 Art, that is such a good lens.
Today I got the canon 50mm 1.8 stm, it cost me 160 new, as they are hard to get now at my local best buys, target etc. I went to my camera store in town at my friend's shop and he just had one, so I jumped on it😄
Best comparison man. The video quality, the presentation, comparison, everything was just amazing. I was going to buy the Yongnuo ,but after seeing this, I am going to save up a bit more and then buy the canon 1.8. Thanks !
A few issues.. firstly, pretty every person who wants to invest in a cheaper 1.8 ,kinda knows they shouldnt use autofocus.. in manual it's pretty much as good as the canon. Especially if you use focus peaking. Secondly,..the colors straight out of the camera doesnt really matter,..a decent photographer shoots in a flat profile anyways, and brings everything back in editing. Yeah, its not the canon 1.8.. but for the price it's a gem.. I use both..because I came across the yongnuo after I bought the canon.. and I more often use the yongnuo...
What about video? Is the young lens just overall trash in your opinion? From this video the young looked decent. I've seen video footage of the young and it looked pretty decent
Great review, in my country the Canon 50mm it's 900U$ and the Yongnuo is 450U$ so it's a big diference, even more when(normal wage is 200U$) but i'm still not sure if the diference is that big to literraly pay the double beside the focus quality... which 90% of the time my T100 takes like 5s to get it right.
Thanks man! The background is about 2 meters from the camera and the led lights are about 1 meter behind the lenses. The reason why it’s so bokehlishious is the fast 1.8 aperture ;)
Canon lens is way better in every category. This pandemic I used my canon dslr as a webcam and i love it so much, then I bought this cheap Yongnu 50mm lens f1.8 for me to look better and I love the results and the bokeh effect is amazing during video conferencing, super clear and look so live, not those who use artificial blurred background.
I was thinking of ditching the kit lens and buying youngnuo lens. I will stick to the kit lens then.Thank you!! I willl watch the advert as a way of showing my thanks
I have the Youngnuo 50mm f/1.8 lens, and it produces atrociously soft images at f/1.8 with terrible contrast. I have to stop it down to f/2.8 to get decently sharp images.
Yes I would get a Canon 1.8, in case you are already on EOS R cameras... the RF 50 1.8. I used for a while a EF 50 1.8 STM, then a 1.4 USM and after regretting the 1.4s abysmal image quality and flaws the RF 50 1.8 The RF 50 1.8 is just THE BEST you can get Considering you still use a T5i.... i would think about a 2nd hand EOS RP! Since the R8 is released many people want to get rid of the RP for the R8, the "RP Mk2". If you dont mind video too much with the RP you get incredible (STILLS!) performance for "little" money. I upgraded once from T3i/550D to the RP and the difference was much more noticable than any lens could have made, especially since i only used lower end to midclass full frame lenses
I can use a Yongnuo on my Canon SL2 DSLR but not on my Canon Rebel G 35mm SLR. I found a good used Canon 50mm f/1.8 II Lens for $75. I like shooting both film and digital.
Would the Canon 50mm 1.8 STM be considered a wide angle lens? I want to start a podcast with a 4 camera set up and I need one of those cameras to be a wide angle lens to capture all of the subjects as they speak. Also if you could suggest a good lens for my 3 other camera that will capture a up close image similar to a talking head video. also the cameras I'm using are the cannon 80D, if that helps.
The 50mm could work great for closer images/talking head. However, it’s not a wide angle lens. For that you need a 24mm or wider, depending on the room size.
Thanks! To use the Canon 50mm on your camera you’d need an “ef to e mount” adapter. There are some cheap options, but you won’t have autofocus. If you want autofocus as well they are over $100...
Great presentation with a cool attitude. I will buy the Canon 50mm. I have seen TWO versions of the Canon 50mm.... One is from Canon and the other is listed as an import. Some suppliers show both but Canon stock is backordered while the import is available. I have not been able to determine the source of the Amazon link provided. I can only assume it is an import. Can you clarify? Thanks
Thanks! I usually only buy if the merchant is in the Amazon Prime program. In this way I feel a bit safer and it has worked so far. However, it should be safe buying from Amazon in general...
@@PaulHeimlund Thanks Paul, I further reviewed the Amazon link and it shows that it is from the Canon Store! It also shows stock in about 3 weeks in Feb '21
