Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 IS III Review by Georges Cameras 

As a long-time, now-retired photojournalist, I have one comment: PLEASE USE A CAMERA STRAP. That is all.

The only advantage I see in comparison to the MKII is the backlight shooting scenario. The MKIII handles it much better. If you own the MKII as I do, there's no point of upgrading. However, if you're in the market for a new 70-200 from Canon, I would definitely put extra $$ towards the MKIII. Canon, where's my EF 24-70 f 2.8 IS LIII lens!?!

Another great video. I owned the mark 1, original version many years ago. I wish I had never sold it.

When the higher megapixel camera bodies get here I think we will really notice the difference in sharpness! Something nobody is yet talking about!

I have this lens, and here’s my opinion. DO NOT get this lens if you have the Mk II. It isn’t worth it. Literally the same. DO get this lens if you do not have a 70-200.

I'm absolutely satisfied from this lens. Its extremely , with less edit in my photos. I use it mostly on portraits !

I have the mark ii, clean glass, but heavy as L. It's a great lens for portrait and sorts

Kudos to Canon. My first generation 70-200mm f/4.0 took razor sharp landscapes that won awards and earned me money. Looking at what the version III offers, it is overly hyped and overly costly - unless you just happen to require the few newest features. Bokeh at 2.8? Again, unless you specifically require it, it means little.

Slight upgrade over the mk II, testament to the quality of the mk II. When the only upgrade over a 8 year old lens is the coating… In terms of the RF socket… the weight and the length is a downer. The optical quality as well as internal zoom is up there with the RF version and better, respectively. The RF versions are a compromise in terms of packaging dimensions but optically not a leap forward anyway. I assume the external zoom will be fine for most and many years. Some situations however will lead to a higher degree of dust inside the lenses without having completely internal zoom. In short: If you call an EF version your own, you probably want to keep it after the first few times you resisted to buy a newer RF toy ;).

I own all versions I, II & III and it's my humble opinion in design and photo: Version I vs II - big difference, Version II vs III - no difference. Canon want to update to version III is just becoz they want to update.

I noticed you used your left eye look through the view finder... My right is not great so I used my left eye also and I find hard specially I used prescription glasses as well.. And trick to make comfortable?

Hi sir. I just bought Canon EF 70 200mm f2.8 III from Best Buy. But it only has 2 mode of image stabilizer, and when I turn on the stabilization, I feel vibration on my hand due to the motor. Is that normal? I feel like they use mark ii lens and put mark III on the lens name. Even the porch is black too it's seem very strange for me.

In other words keep your the version II. They gave no good reason why to upgrade. This is canon way of saying we can't keep up with Sony so just like an iphone most people want to get the latest only because its the newest.

I think taking and showing quality pictures is a better deciding factors than spec analysis. Sometimes I get so bored with the long talks. Show us powerful images and my hands are all over my wallet, ready to throw out money.

i still use my mk 1 can not see the justification for spending all that money again. I'm sure with a comparison of all 3 models you would be hard pressed to tell any major differences. You should be using the lens hood to reduce any flare!
