Dual layer is basically the only future of LCD specially when combined with miniled zones.

I've wondered for a while now if you're super rich, like say over $100m worth or something, what kind of TV do you buy? Obviously when that rich you will have a home theatre setup but what about when you just wanna watch in in your bedroom or something? Like when you just wanna watch a 50-70" screen not a damn cinema. What are the "elite" TVs that cost like $50k or so? I guess my question is - is there a market for these crazy expensive reference displays for the super rich but in a slightly more consumer friendly package? Or are even the super rich still just buying a normal retail Panasonic or LG for "normal" TV sizes?

This video looks great! Watching it on an Apple Pro Display XDR. Chrome properly displays 2160pHDR video on the XDR it looks like. I feel like i am actually in the room looking at the display. And i appreciate your high nit graphics haha. Seriously blown away at how much nicer this video looks in HDR on a proper HDR display. What peak brightness is this video graded to? It is pretty blindingly bright and wonderful.

It's over sixty lbs, so it's not exactly portable. The DP-V2421 knocks off 20 lbs and also $14,000.00 US, and is still 1200 nits edge to edge. Downside: smaller screen, won't heat the room as well on a cold winter's day.

Hey Vincent, can someone use that canon to grade at a higher peak brightness like 4000 nits by keeping an eye on the luminance scopes in davinci resolve and using a higher nit display like the sony z9g (4000 nits capable) as a secondary reference display through an sdi to hdmi device? I'm somewhat of a high nits w#*re myself just like you.

I have a question. I'm definitely in no lace to buy a $30,000+ monitor at this time in my life, however, i currently have a 16inch macbook pro, and i use DaVinci Resolve to edit and color my movies. Do you have any recommendations for monitor settings or color settings in resolve for when I want to do color work. I'd love to do HDR work, I think my screen can hit 500 nits, but honestly I'm not sure if it's limited in software or if I really should have 1000 nits to do any HDR work. FALD is just so disgustingly bad.. The obvious zones, the obvious light bleed... For a reference monitor, I get the move from OLED to LED LCD, as the superior peak brightness, more consistent brightness, and no issue with burn-in make sense in a workplace environment that is often more brightly lit, with content being paused and/or displayed repeatedly for analysis.... But for home use, when I turn off the lights, FALD is just awful. OLED is the business in a darkened room.. In fact, I'd rather get a standard, old school LCD with the backlight always on, than be distracted by the backlight zones turning off and on in their blocky fashion.

No display with FALD should be classed as a Reference Monitor.
