Thank you very much for this video. My autofocus stopped working. I watched a video that led me to check the gears but my gears are pristine. Found this video which helped me discover my lens flex cable had broken. I ordered a new cable for only $5 and was able to fix it with your great instructions. Thank you!
Thank you so much, I actually needed to repair the iris mechanism for adjusting the aperture after the lens had been dropped but your video gave me the confidence to tackle the task. All back together & working fine now.
Just bought a used replacement lens. I wish I would have seen your video sooner. The old lens was 18 years old and used almost daily. Thanks great job!
Thanks, just fixed mine watching your video. Took the camera on a family trip and it wasn't focusing so I had to use my phone as the only other lens I had was a 28-135. Total fix was $7.41
wow, such a professional work, you made it look soooo simple, i havent skip any part of the video even time you unscrew / screw back everything. such a pleasure to watch eventhough no fast forward editing. Subcribe now. From Malaysia
thank you very much for the tutorail, it helped a lot with repairing my own lens! the hardest part was sticking the new flex tape in place and securing it, everthing else was easy
Nice job. I was able to follow exactly what you did and fixed a lens with the exact same problem. When buying the flex cable it made sense to buy five. I didn't ruin any putting one in, so now I have four more flex cables to install in the next four of these lenses I find with this problem.
Sicko mode, it worked! I have a little bit of experience in repairing bikes, this was the first time I tried to repair electronics and it worked out. Biggest problem was sticking the new piece in the correct place. Putting the top part in the to nipples and fixing it with my left thumb helped, and then making sure the bottom of the piece aligns perfectly with the plastic border. Took me 2 tries!
Thank you for a precise video! It is very detailed, and exactly what I needed. My lens is now fixed and working properly. I think the new ribbon cost like 5 dollars on aliexpress. I did find the music a litle repetitive after it looped a couple of times, which did not help my consentration. But other than that, a very good video!
Awesome video. Very easy to follow and great when you zoomed in or adjusted the lighting to enhance the detail. Worked perfectly for my lens repair. Thank you 🙏
Could you do another one like this exactly but to fix the apature blades please just add a bit more light so we can seeinto the lens. I woukd forever be grateful
Hi there! I have the same lens and unfortunately dropped it! Zooming in is now really sticky and difficult to move! Do you have any ideas on how to fix this???
Nice tutorial, can I ask if you have a tutorial on how to put grease on Canon lens kit? I have a EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens kit and as time goes by the smoothness of zooming IN and Out is not the same anymore, can you help me with this please?
Hey my camera focus doesn’t work at all. When i do open my camera it says from example F3.5 for few seconds like 5-10 seconds after that it shows F - - Please i need help i’m not sure if it’s with camera or lens
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately I was not able to attach new ribbon correctly. My thingers are too thick. I destroyed 3 ribbons. Always slightly wrong angle. Probably I will have to disassemble the lens completely. I still have 2 more ribbons.
I have already change the flex cable it regain focus but the af motor does not function... could you send a link where i can buy replacement for autofucos motor..
Kiss x5 18mm to 55mm When its in 35mm which the cam is shor and not extending. The focus cant focus enough. This happened to me recently. Last year it wasnt like this. I tried 55 to 350 or 200+ lens when its short like not extended, its working fine. So the focus on the 18 to 55mm is kinda broken? And do i need to get it fixed? Thnks
@@FotoSunMY Hi and thank you. I messed up today and managed to pierce a hole in the ribbon that sits on top of the gear housing so I need one of those too.
