I recently returned to my EOS 10 film camera, after using digital for many years. I'd forgotten how warm the images are and how creative film can be. I've now purchased a mint used EOS 1N - the camera I always wanted but couldn't afford when they were new.
I have a Canon EOS 1n I just saved from the scrap yard. The shutter wouldn't fire and after cleaning the shutter release housing and loosening a screw it fired right up. I also meticulously cleaned the shutter because of the gunk that normally happens with Canon cameras. Very excited to start using it as it also uses the same lenses as my digital camera
I got out of storage last week. I got the BC error. I tried 3 batteries, all error. Then suddenly no power at all. Local shop wants £30 just to give me a diagnostic. I scratched my head one last time. I ordered new batteries and charger. Hey presto, all my cameras work, Canon EOS 1n, Canon EOS 1000n, Canon EOS 100. Phew, was close. I love this camera in particular. It is almost digital.
@@ataboyboyboy8895 yeah i love this camera too it is almost digital indeed, but unfortunately mine needs to go to a service man who can figure out why it is not switching on now 😅 , im sure it could be somethg minor i hope 😅
Nice video....I added the EOS 1N to my small collection of 35 mm Film cameras. Mostly because the price was right and I am collecting certain Canon cameras that I have had an affinity for over the decades. The only digital "camera" I have is my smartphone. Maybe I'll get a proper one soon...LOL. But this 1N is beautiful and so much fun to explore with. I have a hard time deciding between the T90 and this one, they are similar but each unique on their own. And for the same reasons, there's something about film and sharing physical pictures like we did in the past. And like you said, taking the time to think through the shot because there's no going back to the storage card.....Enjoy the camera!!
Thanks so much for sharing your views, really appreciate the community here. Yeah, there’s just something about film that seems so nice especially when u nail the bottom exposure and composition right 😊 . Enjoy!
Such great shots! I'm sure they will appreciate those photos in the days to come! Thank you for showing off the camera some and your pictures. I'm wanting to 'upgrade' from an AE 1 to a 1n and really appreciate you making this =)
@@QippysChannel Can you expound on that a bit? The 1N is a great price point for an older film camera but I'm wondering if I should splurge on a better Pro Camera?
@@jomoanderson5596 well in my opinion the Eos 1N is really pro enough as it was at it’s time the flagship till the Eos 1V came along a little later, and this is in all honestly more for sports shooters that really needed a higher burst rate, which I honestly don’t think is neccesry when u are shooting cadualy on film in my opinion 😊
@@QippysChannel I've watched a recent comparative vid where the owner had both the 1v,& the Eos 3,& he spoke of how "plastic" the build quality was compared to the 1v,& that turned me off in getting the 3.If the 1N RS has a more solid build construction at it's price point it would be a near sell for me. Thanks
Back in in 1958 at the 8th grade picnic I took a picture of Kathy Madole from about 200' away with a Kodak Box Camera on 620 film. Developed it my self in the brand new Dark Room/Basement Bathroom my father just built so I could pursue my photo hobby. Do you realize how small a figure is at 200' on a CONTACT PRINT of 620 Kodak Black & White film. By the way that dark room is still there as my Daughter & GrandDaughter now live there. OH I got an Enlarger for Christmas and saved up $50 for a Yashica 35 mm Rangefinder Film Camera
Wow! Haha, amazing stuff, yeah I remember the first photo print I ever developed in my school’s dark room, the moment the photograph slowly appeared just is so magical, there’s just something so interesting and rewarding about using film isn’t there? Anyway, that been said do think there’s a time and place for every tool , whether it be film or digital, the more the merrier I say 😊
Hey there! Thanks so much for tuning in, it always never fails to surprise me that there are people out there who actually watch my videos, thanks so much, working on a few lens videos soon, been rather bz with kids and school and also procrastinating , my apologies 🙏🙏😆
Kind of want one of these lol. I'm a Canon guy and I was gifted a couple Pentax SLRs. I absolutely loved the images I got from them. Would be cool the use the EF lens lineup I have with some film.
Well worth picking opne up...it's like having this hybrid system that autofocuses like a modern camera and exposes like a modern camera and you get analog output 👍
I ordered an EOS 1N on eBay along with the BP-E2 power drive. It has been an amazing camera. I get strange looks from those who sweary by their smart phone cameras. I have a Pixel and the camera is very good. I prefer the film camera. Film cameras force the photographer to slow down and take time with light, shadows, composition, etc. before taking the shot. I have gone back to film in a big way: Canon EOS 1N, Canon EOS 1, Canon Sure Shot Supreme, Nikon FM2n and the Fujifilm GW690II medium format. I have the EOS 5D Mk II and the EOS R.
That’s so nice to hear, yeah film camera makes you shoot with purpose and in turn I like how it trained me even as a digital photographer to slow down at times. However my daily these days is still my Fuji X-T5. I don’t know what it is but my EOS 1n just doesn’t switch on, I really want to bring it for a repair . Miss shooting stuff on my film rolls just for fun, I have a Portra 400 that I haven’t even tried yet 😅
I just started using a Canon L1 rangefinder - do you still look at the back of the camera after taking a shot expecting to see an image on the non-existent LCD? haha
Haha, not really, I only got that only really little when I first picked it up again to shoot with, but now it’s like how I used to use it back in the day, the pics are in my mind’s eye 😆 and it’s so satisfying when u get pics back and it comes out just as u pictured it hehe
@@QippysChannel nice! i sent a roll to Zontiga and it came back horrific (not their fault, all mine) - I shot very little film before - having "unlimited film" on digital has really spoiled me maybe.
@@FaisalAriff hahah, it’s ok, i used to start that way too, used to wash loads of film (both at the shop and self)back in the day only to get so many shots not properly coming and exposed properly but now having Digital its such a luxury and I can really cherry pick the look i want for my pics based on the medium i want and film stocks, kinda of like choosing a fun car over a capable one I guess 😊😊
Wow, nice production sir. Your videos look comparable to the youtubers I always look up to. Please upload more, would love to see more contents from you.
@@aqqibmaula320 awww thanks bro, yup, with three girls and a Mrs , there’s always something to get upto, but I really need to try, kinda of miss uploading them too, as I also have a few reviews to get done too 😅😅
@@QippysChannel Can't wait :) hope you can find some free time to do them reviews Mr black taped camera. Would also love to see more of your wedding work too.
It’s not that hard at all, especially if you camera has built in light metering, also negative film is very forgiving with over exposure compared to digital, yeah I have a a roll of Portra 400 which I can’t wait to try, apparently that’s one of the best film stocks for color and fine grain 👍😊
