True and then remember the C100 has the same sensor. In combination with a Ninja or similar field recorder it would be cheaper together then the C300 but recorded quality would be the same.
I am looking for buying a video camera and confused between Canon 100, 300, 500. The 4K seems to be an advantage in the long run and gives added advantage for post prod editing if the storage space is a lot. I liked your video and wanted to ask if you shot it in 2K or in HD ? and in what output is this youtube video? 1080?
Anshul Gupta You have to choose your output in RU-vid. Usually in automatic it will set on 480 P depending your connection speed but 1080 p is avialable. This clip was shot in 1080 p but remember C300 has a 4K sensor anyway no 4K output however, similar to C100. Right now there are a C100 mk2 and C300 Mk 2 completely new cameras. ( mind you this test was done in 2012 and things change rapidly) Choosing a camera is completely up to the kind of work you want to do with is. Reasonably economic but no 4K is the C100 mk2. The C300 Mk2 records 4K internally but is pricy. Unless you are a Canon fanboy you could go for Sony FS7 schouder cam, best value for money today. Or choose one of the SLR's or point to shoot cams that records 4K. For FS7 test on grading see ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V3xHKwD-_fM.html&spfreload=10 and do noy for get to set the playback on 1080 ( full HD) recorded 4K and graded output in 1080 p. Good luck!
Tom Poederbach Thanks a lot Tom !! It's for shooting documentaries for TV. I guess HD shoot and output would be the best for not taxing the editing machines with 4K. I like Sony although I am already using some D-SLRs of Canon and have the lenses which could be used for C300 series. Otherwise for Sony I would have to invest further on the lenses which could be extra pressure on the budget. Your advice is very helpful. Regards
Anshul Gupta my advise would be Canon C100 mk2 and Ninja2 recorder ( directly prores 422 8bit) for TV work for webwork leave the Ninja out. Best price quality in 1080p (4K sensor though) C300 mk2 is way to expensive, but if you have the budget, why not.
Tom Poederbach Thanks a lot for your valuable advice Tom ! I found out that Canon is giving the Ninja2 Recorder for free with the Canon C100 at the moment and perhaps this could be the ideal opportunity to pick one up...its also less than half the price than a C300 mk2. Let's see how the works flows. Appreciate your help a lot. Regards
This is already an old camera. There is now C300 MkII and that is 4K. This old C 300 has a build in mike just for refferenc audio. It has 2 XLR connectors for pro mics
